William R. Cecil

Born in 1932 in Decatur, Illinois, as the only child of Dwight and Pearl Cecil, Bill lived a remarkably full and adventurous life.

His honorable service as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War marked the beginning of a journey filled with diverse careers—from radio personality to hospital administrator, and later as a lighthouse and innkeeper. He and Fran owned and operated the Scofield House Bed and Breakfast in Sturgeon Bay, Door County, Wisconsin, starting in 1987 after restoring the historic 1902 Victorian home. They ran it (along with related rental properties) for over 30 years, creating lasting memories for guests in one of Wisconsin’s most beautiful areas.

Bill’s passion for Wisconsin shines through—skiing snow-covered hills, swimming in Little Elkhart Lake, and relaxing on the deck with Fran and a beer. His worldwide travels took him across Europe, Russia, and Japan, while closer to home he embraced boating, cross-country skiing, motorcycles, auto racing, snowmobiles, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.

In retirement, Bill and Fran settled in beautiful Arizona, continuing their adventures with travel, poolside sunsets, golf cart rides, and time with their beloved dogs. His legacy endures through his five grandchildren: John, Michael, Lily, Ayden, and Avery.

Dan R. Schanock

Dan R. Schanock, 75, of Green Bay, passed away in Sturgeon Bay on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at his Door County home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 4, 1951, in Kenosha, the son of the late Romaine and Mary (Ritter) Schanock. Dan spent part of his early years in Lake Forest, IL before his father moved the family to Green Bay to open what would be the first of many McDonald’s Restaurants in the Green Bay area. He later graduated from Premontre Catholic High School in Green Bay and proudly followed in his father’s footsteps by entering the McDonald’s business. Over the course of 47 years, Dan built a distinguished career within McDonald’s, becoming a respected owner and operator known for his dedication to his employees and the community.

His interest in technology eventually inspired him to build his own entrepreneurial path,
launching additional ventures including Satellite Receivers Limited and later purchasing Murphy Supply, a plumbing supply business in Green Bay. He was also a proud member of a unique club known as the “Sons of Bosses” (SOBs).
Dan was known for his playful humor, jokes, and quick wit. He loved making people laugh and enjoyed sending jokes and memes to friends and family as a simple way to stay connected and show he cared. He especially enjoyed spending time at his hunting land, golfing whenever he could, and had a lifelong interest in cars, electronics, and fixing things.
Dan treasured time spent with his granddaughters, enjoying fishing off the dock, taking them on boat rides, going cherry picking together, helping keep their bird feeders filled, and sharing a cherished memory trip to Disney World — creating special memories they will carry with them always. He also dearly loved his dogs, Mia and Molly, who were special
companions and brought him great joy.
Dan especially loved spending summers up north in Fish Creek with family and friends. He enjoyed boating and could often be found zooming around town on his moped in search of live music or visiting favorite local spots such as “The Goat Bar”, Bayside, AC Tap, and The Loft. He made sure anyone visiting Door County had a fun time and knew all the best places to go. He was often the life of the party, known for making his famous cherry bounce, a tradition he proudly carried on for decades.

Dan also enjoyed cooking and was especially known for making the best Thanksgiving turkey, a tradition his familywill always remember. Dan also had a well-known love for Costco. He enjoyed frequent trips, walking every aisle, and rarely returned empty-handed
— especially when bringing home fruit, snacks, and little surprises for his granddaughters, his son David, and his daughter- in-law.
Dan was truly a jack of all trades, known for his ability to fix just about anything. Everyone seemed to have Dan on speed dial when something needed fixing. He was also known as a selfless and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family before thinking of himself.
Throughout his three-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer, Dan was a fighter. He remained positive and optimistic, often reassuring others that he was doing well, and faced his illness with strength and quiet courage.
Dan is survived by his son, David (Ashley) Schanock of Sturgeon Bay; his beloved granddaughters, Ellinor and Olivia; sisters, Debbie (Steve) Daffinson of Green Bay, Darcy (Emmett) Cregan of Sturgeon Bay, and Donna Stout of Green Bay; brother, David (Kim) Schanock of Green Bay; and many dear nieces and nephews. The thing Dan was most proud of was his son, David. Dan shared a very close relationship with his only son and was a proud and devoted father. He taught David the value of hard work, humility, and how to fix just about anything around the house. Their strong bond was evident throughout
Dan’s life and remained steadfast through his final days, as David stayed faithfully by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Romaine and Mary Schanock; and his sister, Dee Dee Pavlik.
Dan will be remembered for his humor, generosity, love of family, and his ability to make every gathering a little more fun. He will especially be missed by his family, dear friends Rick Chernick, Jim Halron, and many others.

Milton A. Anschutz, 79, Algoma. It is with great sadness that the family of Milton “Milty” August Anschutz Jr., announces his passing on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the age of 79. Milt was born on December 5, 1946, to the late Milton Sr. and Betty (Simon) Anschutz in Sturgeon Bay, WI. He graduated from Sevastopol High School and proudly joined the United States Army, where he served his country in Korea and Germany. Following, he spent 8 years serving in the Army Reserves. Milt was a master repair man. On one special New Year’s Eve, Milt met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Bettie) Rankin. As he walked her to the car that night, he slipped on the ice and right then and there, fell for her. They later wed on April 23, 1977, and proudly celebrated 48 loving years in marriage. Milty’s greatest joy in life was his wife, children, Chris (Katy) Churches, Jessica (Terry) Lipshetz, Brooke Anschutz and his grandchildren, Brandon, Connor, Claire and Lexi. He loved everyone dearly. Milt enjoyed many years of hunting or “catching deer” as Claire and Lexi would say. He was an avid birder and enjoyed putzing around the yard with the most well-manicured lawn and flowers you ever seen. He loved annual family trips to Lakewood, fishing, motorcycles, cars and the art of keeping them clean. Gary W. Oswald

Gary W. Oswald, Kewaunee, a man of immense strength and deep faith, has passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the age of 78. Gary spent his career building the world around him, working in construction throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula. He spent years at Hamachek building equipment to harvest food for people. Known for his physical power, he was the kind of man who could swing his siblings and children from his arms with ease. His strength was matched only by his playful spirit; many of his family’s fondest memories involve being tossed into the refreshing waters of Kangaroo Lake. Beyond the job site, Gary found peace and purpose in the earth. He was an avid gardener with a gift for growing things, a lover of animals, and a fan of the thrill that came with a fast sports car. In his younger years, he could often be found at the roller rink, and in retirement at a casino hoping for a big payout. He never missed an opportunity to share the magic of the holidays, famously taking friends and family out trick-or-treating and decorating his house and yard for Christmas. Gary’s life was deeply rooted in his faith. Confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran in Kewaunee, he later became an active member and officer at St. John’s, Two Creeks. He lived his life by his confirmation verse, John 15:5: “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." Gary’s greatest harvest was the love he grew within his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Doris A. Oswald, and his children: Amy Jo (Eugene) Goodavish, Andy (Charr) Oswald; granddaughter: Aurora Oswald (grandpa’s little helper). He leaves behind a large, loving family, including his siblings: Dale Oswald, Patti Hedeen, Ann (Michael) Norkofoski, Ruth Oswald, Peggy (Robert) Joslolski, and Sara Oswald (Carla Byrnes). He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Darlene (Walter) Boeder, brother-in-law, Roy (Sue) Ihlenfeld, and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Lorraine Oswald. A visitation will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kewaunee. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Matthew Sprunger officiating. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services, Kewaunee, is assisting the Oswald Family. Terry Albert

Terry C. Albert, 88, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away February 4, 2026, at Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge, IL. He was born January 28, 1938, in Sturgeon Bay, WI, to Elmer and Myrtle Albert.

Terry Albert, a lifelong lover of craftsmanship, curiosity, and connection, passed away surrounded by the legacy of a life well-lived. Born and raised in Door County, Wisconsin, Terry grew up along the shores of Sturgeon Bay, not far from the Peterson Shipyard. As a young boy, he was known as a bit of a mischievous rascal, yet remained balanced by a deep grounding in sports, friendships, and family. Terry spent much time fishing for perch and observing operations at the Sturgeon Bay stone quarry, which was owned and operated by his father.  He was fascinated by the machinery and the process of breaking and moving stone.  These early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for all things mechanical, including boats, trains, aircraft, automobiles, and motorcycles.  Terry admired not only how things worked but the beauty and intention behind their engineering.

As a teenager, Terry worked in the Door County cherry orchards, a job he often recalled as demanding but worthwhile—especially since it fed his enduring love for sour cherry pie. Being close to Green Bay, Terry attended Packer games in the 40s and 50s beginning a devotion that would last his lifetime. He graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1956 and remained closely connected to many classmates, faithfully attending reunions and cherishing those lifelong friendships.

Following high school, Terry attended the University of Wisconsin–Platteville, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts and a minor in Speech. After graduating, he moved to Chicago, Illinois, and obtained his State of Illinois teaching certificate.  Terry taught Industrial Arts and Driver’s Education. During this time, he became a season ticket holder for the Green Bay Packers and attended many games at Milwaukee County Stadium, proudly watching the team dominate the 60's and win the first two Super Bowls.

In the mid-1960s, Terry met Mary Grace “Tracy” Brausch at Chances R Bar in Chicago. Tracy, also a teacher, matched Terry’s wit and warmth, and the two quickly fell in love. They were married on September 25, 1965, at St. Norbert Parish in Northbrook, Illinois. True to form, their honeymoon began with a Green Bay Packers game in Milwaukee before continuing on to Mackinac Island, Michigan. They soon settled in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

A man of many passions, Terry earned his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying Cessna aircraft. He also joined a hot-air balloon club and took great pleasure in ballooning. His love for all things mechanical and miniature led him to create Albert Hobbies, a side business through which he sold model boats, planes, and LGB, Lionel, and Märklin trains. For nearly 30 years, Terry delighted in attending vintage toy and train shows as a vendor, building layouts, meeting fellow enthusiasts, and sharing his joy for trains with people of all ages.

Terry and Tracy began their family in 1970 and later moved into a mid-century modern home in Deer Park, Illinois. Terry transitioned from teaching into the corporate world, working as a facilities project manager at Baxter Laboratories, where he oversaw major building projects, including a plant in Culebra, Puerto Rico. He later worked for S&C Electric and Northern Telecom. The family eventually relocated to Kildeer, Illinois.

Terry was an avid tennis player, and the family joined the Farmington Bath and Tennis Club, where he played in men’s and mixed doubles leagues. He introduced his children to tennis at a young age, and the tennis and swim community became a second family to the Alberts for many years. In Kildeer, Terry built an impressive train room, filling much of the basement with an elaborate layout. Later, he and Tracy moved to Lake Barrington Shores, where he continued playing league tennis and expanding his train collection.

Terry embraced life’s pleasures fully. He loved attending the Chicago Auto Show, the Oshkosh Air Show, and the Chicago Air and Water Show. He enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, and golf. He had an eye for elegance—favoring Corvettes, Mustangs, and convertibles—and believed champagne belonged at every celebration. His favorite meals included lobster, a rare filet, and always soup. He admired Frank Lloyd Wright–style architecture, especially Fallingwater.

Travel brought Terry great joy. Favorite destinations included Jupiter Beach and Palm Beach, Florida; Monterey, California; and Maui, Hawaii—though Door County always held his heart. In retirement, he traveled internationally, enjoyed cruises, and fell in love with Portofino, Italy; Bruges, Belgium; the south of France; and Monaco. He also enjoyed substitute teaching and volunteering at Master’s golf tournaments at Kemper Woods.

After Tracy passed away, Terry lived with his son's family in Grayslake, IL. He built a new train layout for his remaining collection in his new basement that he fondly called his "Man Cave." Terry will be remembered for his kindness, humor, determination, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. A gifted storyteller and loyal friend, he filled every room with his presence, and his absence will be deeply felt.

He is survived by his children, Tricia Kearns (Eric) and Todd Albert (Aubrey); his five grandchildren, Kaley Kearns, Breanna Albert, Eric J. Kearns Jr., Riley Albert, and Dylan Albert; his brother Bill Albert (Sharon); his sister MaryAnn Hein (Stan); and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Tracy, and his brother John.

A private celebration of life will be held later this spring.

Her daughter still has all the beautiful Barbie clothes she made for her.

Joane had a love for Eastern Décor. She collected beautiful pieces to decorate her home and yard. Besides being an incredible stay at home mom, Joane worked for a few years in the early 1950’s at the National Tinsel Manufacturing Company, which is now registered with the Wisconsin Historical Society. Thomas Milford Drager

Thomas Milford Drager, 71, of the Town of Clay Banks, passed early Friday morning, January 30, 2026 at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay with family at his side.

He was born July 6, 1954 in Beaver Dam, the son of Milford "Mo" Paul Drager and Fern Elizabeth (Fields) Drager. Tom attended Beaver Dam High School where he wrestled and played tennis. Upon graduating from high school in 1972, he went on to study civil engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned his bachelor's degree.

Tom initially worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a helper and then eventually as an engineer. He went to work as an engineer for Morrison-Knudsen, an engineering firm out of Buffalo, NY. Tom started looking for engineering jobs and learned of an engineering position at Roen Salvage, a marine contractor company in Sturgeon Bay, WI.

Prior to 1983, Door County, WI wasn't even on Tom's radar, but he took the job and adjusted his course to head west to Wisconsin. He purchased a farm house in the Town of Clay Banks and started working for Roen Salvage as an engineer.

Tom met Nancy Gail Lau through mutual family friends, and they were eventually married on July 13, 1996 at the farm house. As he continued with Roen Salvage, Tom became the general manager, vice president, and eventually retired as president, but his humble demeanor and informal (clothing) style would never have lead you to believe that he was in those positions of even greater leadership.

Anyone who knew Tom, knew that his favorite title was "professional engineer." Together, with Don Sarter, Tom Levy, and John Asher, the collaboration of "Don, Tom, Tom, and John" allowed Roen Salvage to continue to grow and develop into their present day existence. Tom retired from Roen Salvage in 2022.

He was raised Catholic and initially attended Holy Name of Mary Parish in Maplewood, upon moving to Door County. Later on, Tom attended Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church.

He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, skiing, and hiking. Tom loved nature and all of its creatures, especially his border collie, Tillee. He and Nancy cared for their horses at home and liked riding with other family at the farm. Tom was a talented woodworker and even refinished his own house. He had a passion for music and was the lead guitarist for the band, Liquid Steel.

Tom was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. On gameday, he could be found in section 120, in row 40, together with friends in seats 15 through 18. That general area was kind of an unofficial Door County zone, as there were usually other friends from Door County not far from there. But Tom's presence on gameday was most known from his legendary tailgating parties. Attending a tailgating party once, earned you "lifetime admittance" to his future tailgating parties.

Tom will be missed by his wife, Nancy, with whom he shared nearly 30 years of marriage; his children, Joseph (Kristy) Drager of Green Bay, Shenna (Alex "Michael") Cox of Cedar Hill, TN, and Nathan (Erin) Drager of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Sabrina, Hunter, Trinity, and Nolan Drager, Taylor (Caitlin) Cox and Kimberly (Colin) Spivey, Tatum LaFave, and James and Jordan Fish; great-grandchildren, Campbell Cox, Shepherd Spivey, and Roman LaFave; sisters, Sue (Brad) Welch of Fox Lake and Meg (John) Crisafi of Monroeville, PA; siblings-in-law, Diana (Dave) Tadych of Iron Mountain, MI, Steve (Julie) Lau of Riverview, FL, and Rebecca Schmelzer of Brussels, WI; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and other relatives.

Tom's life will be honored with a memorial service held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church, 323 S. 5th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 with Rev. Dr. Matthew R. Knapp, Sr. officiating. Tom will be laid to rest in Clay Banks Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials may be given in Tom's name for the ALS Association - Greater Wisconsin Chapter (3333 N. Mayfair Road, Suite 104, Wauwatosa, WI 5322; www.alswi.org).

"Our family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the entire Door County Medical Center staff (from the nurses, to the doctors, to housekeeping) for the wonderful care you provided."

Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Tom may be shared with his family through his tribute page at www.HuehnsFuneralHome.com.

Randy J. Schultz

Randy Schultz, 75, of Sevastopol, passed away peacefully on Jan. 28, 2026, with his family, special friends, and the compassionate staff of the ICU at Aurora BayCare by his side.

Randy was born March 4, 1950, in Colby, WI to Jerome and Elaine (Haas) Schultz. After graduating from Colby High School, he entered the service and proudly served in the Army in Vietnam. His experience left a lasting memory not to be forgotten. After returning to his hometown after the service, he worked for many for his aunts and uncles on their farms and spent time with his family and friends fishing, hunting, and playing many card games and cribbage talking the night away.

Randy then headed to Door County to make it his home. He married Linda Pfister in December of 1984. Randy was never a man to just sit. He loved being outside, surrounded by everything he enjoyed. There was always lots to do including: fishing, hunting, lots of walks with his family and pets and talking to anyone who was willing to listen. Randy’s jobs consisted of anything physical and outside that included construction work and tree service. He eventually started up a small business, 911 Lawn Care and Landscaping.

Randy was also a Sevastopol First Responder and an Egg Harbor Firefighter. Above all, he was a very proud veteran who took pride in the flag and everything it stands for! On Sundays, you would find Randy in his Packers attire watching his team. Win or lose, they were his team!

Randy is survived by his wife Linda of 40 years, daughter Valarie (Ryan) Fisher, Union Grove, WI, a son Jeremy of Sevastopol; siblings: Sally (Jerry) Heindl Stetson Ville, WI, Kathy (Arlyn)Telford, Colby, WI, Amy (Mark) Underwood, Chippewa Falls, WI and Steve Schultz, Colby, WI; and many cousins nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Elaine Schultz, his nephew Mitchell Telford, his mother and father-in-law Melvin and Nancy Pfister, and his sister-in-law Mary Lou Pfister.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Forbes Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Military honors will be conducted at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.

Randy was a fighter, never giving up on anything or anyone and appreciated spending time with all his family members; he especially enjoyed the warm summer firepit gatherings by his son Jeremy. Randy enjoyed and appreciated anyone who took time to stop and visit.

Special thanks to the Sevastopol First Responders, Door County EMS, Aurora BayCare ICU staff and family and friends of Randy for being there in his time of need.

Memorials can be made in Randy's honor to #Warrior Violet go fund me page. Violet is a Sevastopol 3rd grader fighting cancer and I know he would want her to fight and win this battle.
