Janice A. Janowski

On the morning of July 1st, 2026, under a beautiful full moon, Janice “Jan” Janowski, 82, was swept away by Angels to her eternal reward. She passed peacefully at Autumn’s Promise Assisted Living in Green Bay.

She was born to George & Mary (Paul) Wachal on July 27, 1943, in Pilsen, Wisconsin. She was homecoming queen in 1960 and graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1961. She enjoyed attending many class reunions thereafter.

Jan married Peter Janowski on May 20, 1967, at Pilsen Church. They were blessed with five children: Jon (Cheryl), Shelley, Brian (Jen), Andrea (special friend Jack Erdman), Jay (Amy) and ten grandchildren -Allyson, Kiera, Aaron, Stella, Ashton, Nicholas, Giselle, Alex, Emily, and Grant.

Jan’s first job was in banking at Peoples Marine Bank in downtown Green Bay. She met many Green Bay Packers players and staff who banked there, including Vince Lombardi. She and Peter also maintained rental properties. Later, she continued her career as a school portrait coordinator at Harmann Studios. Jan was a lifelong volunteer and followed a family motto of “People Helping People.” She was a member of Western Fraternal Life (now BetterLife) serving as President and Secretary of the Pilsen Lodge. Jan also volunteered for National Mutual Benefit, the UWGB Weidner Center, and fund-raising projects for the Luxemburg Knights of Columbus. She always had a passion for helping others in need. Jan was a faithful Catholic and lifetime parishioner of St. Therese in Pilsen and a member of its Rosary Society. She loved gardening (especially flowers), listening to music (Elvis Presley was her favorite and she attended his concert in Green Bay), and singing.

Jan was most proud of her family and enjoyed making a wonderful home, cooking and baking, and reading to her young grandchildren. Jan loved playing cards with friends and family. She was kind, hardworking, honest, trustful, giving, and a woman of great faith.

Surviving family members are brothers-in-law Paul and Tom (Marilyn) Janowski, sisters-in-law Edna and Judy Janowski, and cousins of the Paul and Wachal family. She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Clara Janowski, brothers-in-law Joe and Jim Janowski, and sister-in-law Pat Janowski.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests a donation to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association. Jan fought a courageous battle against Parkinson’s toward the end of her life.

John J. Ellenbecker

John J. Ellenbecker, a lifelong resident of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on June 30, 2026, following a short illness.

He was born on December 12, 1937, in Sturgeon Bay to John and Mary (Bartl) Ellenbecker. A proud veteran, John served his country in the United States Army during the 1950s, stationed in Germany. He married his beloved wife, Judy Ellenbecker, in December 1963, together building a family and a life centered around faith, hard work, and the water.

John dedicated his professional life to his craft as a master carpenter, lending his exceptional skills to Christy Corporation, Bay Shipbuilding, and Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding where he dedicated over forty years. His craftsmanship extended far beyond the shipyards; he could build or fix anything around the house and skillfully renovated multiple family homes. He was always the first to offer a helping hand to his children with any project.

A quiet man by nature, John found his greatest joy in the time spent with his family and in his love for fishing and living by the water. He was a devout, practicing Catholic and a lifelong parishioner at St. Joseph’s Parish in Sturgeon Bay. Though he will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his family takes profound solace in knowing that he has been welcomed into Heaven by our Lord and Savior.

John is survived by his three sons: Michael (Karen) and their son Matthew; Joe (Lilly) and their daughters Katie, Hannah, and Emma; and Andrew (Jennifer) and their daughters Brooklyn, Madison, and Kendall; as well as his great grandson, Theodore. He also survived by his brother, Bernard Ellenbecker and numerous loving nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Ellenbecker; his beloved wife, Judy Ellenbecker; and his son, David Ellenbecker and his sister, Rosemary (Dick) Baumann and sister-in-law, Mary Jane “Jay” Ellenbecker.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the dedicated and caring staff at the Pete and Jelaine Horton Center for the comfort they provided John.

A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial celebrating John’s eternal life and Christ's resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 13, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Parish in Sturgeon Bay. Following the Mass, John will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service. John "Bill" William Andersen

John William Andersen, affectionately known to family and friends as "Pops" and "Big Bill," passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 21, 2026, at the age of 88.

John was born on June 3, 1938 in Evanston, Illinois, to Robert and Catherine Bernice Manning Andersen. He attended Evanston Township High School and Lake Forest College. In 1964, Bill married Dulce Ann Willison and always said marrying Dulce was the best decision he ever made. Together they built a loving family that remained the center of his world. He began his career in the Treasurers office of Marshall Field & Company in Chicago before moving his family to Oshkosh to be closer to the place they loved most-Door County. He became Vice President of Finance at Wisconsin National Life Insurance Company and enjoyed a distinguished career in business and community leadership. He served on the Board of Directors of Wisconsin National Life Insurance Company, the Buckstaff Company, and for 35 years on the Board of Directors of Oshkosh Corporation.

John also believed deeply in giving back to his community. He served as pro bono treasurer of the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce, was a lifetime trustee of the Paine Art Center, and was a Patron donor to the United Way in Oshkosh.

He was the beloved husband of Dulce Willison Andersen; devoted father of William Spencer Andersen (Heather Curtis Andersen) and David Galloway Andersen (Kimberly Martin Andersen); and proud grandfather of Lizi, Matthew, Megan, Topher, and Will Andersen. He is also survived by his sisters, Karen Andersen and Betsy LaFontaine, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

John will be remembered for his sweet smile, quick wit, remarkable intellect, and his uncanny ability to offer wisdom, guidance, or a practical solution to nearly any problem-whether of the heart or the household. He found great joy in spending time with his family, golfing with his late brother Jon, fishing with his sons and grandchildren, and enthusiastically following his beloved Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Above all, John's greatest pride was his family.

His kindness, generosity, humor, and steady presence enriched the lives of everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

A visitation and celebration of John's life will be announced at a later date.
