Jeffrey Lee Borkovetz

Jeffrey Lee Borkovetz, 57, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025 at The Village of Eden Vista in the Village of Allouez. He was born on March 11, 1968 in Two Rivers, the youngest of eight children, to Robert Frank and Esther Ann (Dax) Borkovetz. With a family of seven siblings, the good Lord knew he would have to make Jeff special in order for him to stand out in such a crowd, and special he was. Jeff enjoyed being the life of all family gatherings where his musical talent entertained everyone and even gathered the attention of Kenny Rogers at one of his shows. He loved weddings and dancing, and always found a way to end up with the microphone. He was always the DJ at family Christmas celebrations and at his nieces’ and nephews’ graduation parties. He traveled with his many sleeves of CDs and his boom box and karaoke machines. Johnny Cash, June Carter, Kenny Rodgers, and Elvis Presley were his favorites. In his younger years, he enjoyed a Graceland bus tour vacation through Memphis with his mom. He played many musical instruments, including the keyboard, harmonica, recorder, tambourine, and the spoons. In June 1990, Riverside School in Lee County, FL awarded Jeff a high school graduation special diploma "prescribed for exceptional students." Jeff was the inspiration of his parents, Bob and Esther, along with Carl Scholz and many other parents, seeking a better opportunity for children with special needs in the community. With local support in 1971, Sunshine House (now known as Sunshine Resources) was started. Jeff worked and grew along with Sunshine House for some 30 years. Jeff won over everyone's hearts and wore his emotions on his sleeve for all to see. He needed to impress no one but unknowingly he warmed the hearts of those who knew him. God Bless you, Jeff! Jeff loved a good meal. When he went out to a restaurant, he always asked for a Big Mac, French fries with cheese curds, and the all-you-can-eat special...and to “Make it Snappy”. Always having a strategy, he loved to sweep, shovel snow, and rake leaves for hours. He was an avid Packers fan and kept busy doing Legos and sorting computer papers. He enjoyed bowling and being around family and friends. Most of all, Jeff loved his birthday and celebrated the entire month of March. He proudly shared, “I was born in 1968!” When he grew up, he wanted to build houses like his brothers. “We are very grateful to The Village at Eden Vista staff and St. Croix Hospice nurses for the wonderful care they provided Jeff in his final months.” Jeff was proud of each and every one of his family, both individually and as a whole. He cherished the time gathered together and had fun; those were by far Jeff's best days! Jeff will be missed by his siblings, Tom (Julie), Jerry (Sally), Sandy (David), Bob (Barb), Rick (Heidi), Ken (Janel), and John (Laura); many nieces and nephews, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents. Elizabeth "Betty" Rozek

Elizabeth “Betty” Jane (Felhofer) Rozek, age 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at Angel’s Touch Assisted Living in DePere. She was born on September 16, 1929, to Joseph and Frances (Mosgaller) Felhofer. Following her 1947 graduation from Sevastopol High, Betty worked in Milwaukee for the Wisconsin Telephone Co. Her frequent letters home reflected her love of music, going to dances with friends and playing the trumpet in a woman’s touring band. It was at a local Sturgeon Bay dance hall that she met the love of her life, Richard Rozek. The couple loved riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle as members of the Cherryland Vagabonds Motorcycle Club. They also enjoyed being members of the Door Car Buffs- for car enthusiasts. On October 22, 1949, Richard and Betty married at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. Now their new home was the family dairy farm purchased just a few years earlier by her in-laws. The sale of their Harley motorcycle went toward the purchase of a Farmall Super-C tractor and their lives as a farming couple took off. Betty shared farm joys and challenges with her husband and received numerous “Top-Ten Herd” awards from Midwest Breeders for their registered Holsteins. Betty and her husband raised three children – Toni, Roy and Paul-on this dairy farm. They showed their children how to have fun, grateful and generous lives. Mom taught us about important events and cycles of life -planting gardens, harvesting crops, enjoying our pets, caring for sick animals in the middle of the night, being a savvy card partner in 5-handed sheepshead card games, giving us the opportunity to sweat in a hot hay mow, showing us how to deliver baby calves, driving us to catechism classes, witnessing their faith to others. A special gift she shared was attending their children and grandchildren’s sporting and musical events (from childhood into adulthood)! Betty and Richard kept right on dancing those polkas as long as they were able – in a ballroom, in the barn aisle with the radio and milking machines going and beside the kitchen table with Alvin Styczynski’s polka band on TV. They danced at Roy/Becky’s wedding in 1974, Paul/Alice’s wedding in 1983 and Toni/Mike’s wedding in 1999. When Dad’s legs said “no more”, Mom and Dad were still dancing in each other’s hearts. It was a joy for them to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary Party with lots of loved ones in 2009. This year, two days after Mom had passed on from this life, we noted a special day – Wednesday, 10/22/25 - was their 76th Anniversary. Betty had arrived HOME to the God she had worshipped and loved her entire life – to the God she had shared with her children- and to the husband she’d danced with for so many years. We were blessed to have her for 96 years. The last years of our Dad’s life were filled with health issues and Mom’s caregiving, love and compassion for him at home were very evident to all. Likewise, her children took care of Betty during her last seven years at home until cognitive and other health concerns brought her to Angel’s Touch Assisted Living (for the past three years.) During her life, she was an active member of her church -Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and Christian Mothers. She worked as a volunteer with Neighbor-to-Neighbor of Door County, enjoyed her East Maplewood Homemakers friends and was a life-time member of the Door Co. Hospital Auxilary. (She loved working in the Beauty Shop there!). Betty was a member of Catholic Financial Life for over 50 years and served in a number of the leadership (officer) roles in this fraternal organization (formerly Catholic Knights). Betty will be deeply missed by her children: Toni (Mike Cane) Rozek, Sturgeon Bay; Roy (Becky Destree) Rozek, Neenah and daughter-in-law Alice (Doherty) Rozek Milwaukee; five grandchildren: Renee (Adam) Bubrozek, Rhonda (Jason) Tongen, Ryan (Brooke) Rozek, Ellen Rozek, Nick (Kristin) Rozek; ten great-grandchildren – Addision and Emily, Kyla and Wesley, Melanie and Molly, Samuel and Abigail, Charles and Callahan; her sister Susan Robinson, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws (Nick and Mary (Novak) Rozek); her husband Richard (died in 2012); her infant daughter Valerie Rozek; her son, Paul Rozek; her sisters, brother and their spouses: Rosie (Don) Olson, Joyce (Tom) Zak, Joe (Beverly) Felhofer, Rodney Robinson; her niece, Terre Felhofer; her two nephews, Donnie Olson and Dennis Olson. Services: There will be one visitation only on Sunday, Nov.2, 2025 from 2 to 4:30 pm at the Forbes Funeral Home, 319 Spruce St. Sturgeon Bay. Prayer service at 4:30 pm on Nov. 2. Funeral services will be at 11:00 on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Holy Name of Mary Church 7491 Co. Rd.H, Sturgeon Bay WI with Fr. William Brunner officiating. No visitation prior to the funeral Mass on 11/3. (A musical prelude will begin around 10:45 am before Mass.) Please share your on-line condolences at forbesfuneralhome.com. Paul E. Pflughoeft

Paul Pflughoeft, 81 years old, was reunited with his creator on 23 October 2025. He was born in Algoma, WI and resided there his whole life. Paul was a lifetime member of the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he also went through their parochial school from second grade until 8th grade, when he transitioned to the Algoma high school and graduated in 1963. While in school, Paul was also a member of the FFA.    Paul grew up on White Ash Valley Farm; this was the family farm that was established in the mid to late 1800’s.  On the farm the family primarily milked cows and sawed lumber on the sawmill.  Paul’s father Erwin would create a fire in the forest to keep the family warm while they harvested small trees that the family would burn for heat through the winter months. Paul went on to take over the family farm from his father until he sold it in 1997. Never wanting to stray too far away from the agriculture world and always treating it as a hobby more than work; Paul began working at Ebert Enterprises in 2007, where he delivered feed to the cows & helped with spring and fall field work when needed.  He worked for Ebert’s until his retirement.     In retirement, Paul found joy in an old hobby of his, making and creating wood glider benches, swings, bed frames, and bird houses.  Additionally, his passion for helping local organizations saw him working at the Kewaunee County Food Pantry and delivering for the Meals on Wheels Program.   Paul is survived by his children, Amanda (Dan), Melissa (Timmy), Megan, & Matthew (Jennifer), his grandchildren Katie, Dylan, Carter, Sam, & Abby. His sisters Bethel & Cheryl (Tom), and their children. Paul will always be remembered for his integrity, spirit, knowledge, and classic old time one liners.  Friends and family are invited to say goodbye to Paul at the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church on 30 October 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with Pastor John Moll and Pastor Joel McKenney officiating.  The Burial service to follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. In place of flowers, the family invites you to support Kewaunee County Food Pantry, reflecting Paul’s passion for caring for the community. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Paul’s many neighbors, friends, and community members whose kindness, support, and friendship were a great comfort to him and our family throughout the years.   Paul’s family extends their sincere appreciation to Schinderle Funeral Home & Cremation Services for the care over Paul and in helping navigate these difficult times.  Express your sympathy, memories and pictures on Paul’s tribute page at www.schinderlefuneralhome.com

Gary Schuster

Gary J. Schuster passed away in his home on the morning of October 20, 2025, after battling a long illness. He fought voraciously, no matter what obstacle came his way, with tenacity and unmatched optimism. Gary was born in Lomira, Wisconsin to Reuben and Edna (Eisenhaut) Schuster on February 25, 1949. He graduated from Mayville High school. He received his undergrad degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at the University of Tulsa College of Law. On a return visit to UW Madison in 1979 he saw an ad on the law school job board that the Republican Party of Door County, Wisconsin was seeking a candidate to run against the incumbent District Attorney. Gary moved to Door County and won the election. He served as the Door County District Attorney for 19 years until losing his bid for re-election in 1999. He was immediately hired as an Assistant District Attorney for Eau Claire County by then DA Ray Pelrine who had served as Gary’s Assistant District Attorney in Door County. Gary remained in that position until his retirement in November of 2011. During his tenure as District Attorney and with the assistance of the Sturgeon Bay Police Department he reopened and successfully prosecuted several decades old unsolved murder cases. While Gary was proud of his work, he was even more proud of his family. Gary met his wife Marybeth in Door County. Just so happened he was her boss but this potential nepotism was overcome, and they were married January 30, 1982. In 1987 they welcomed their first daughter, Breanne, and Allison was born in 1989. Nothing gave Gary more joy than spending time with his girls. He was a proud, caring Dad who saw to it that his daughters enjoyed many adventures and were cheered on from the sidelines. He was a proud Packer season ticket holder for over 40 years and in his final years, he and Allison were able to attend the Packer games together in Green Bay. He so cherished those trips. Breanne followed in her Dad’s footsteps and also became an attorney and he loved his chats with her and the bike rides they shared. Until health and perhaps age (although he never admitted to that reason) Gary loved to play basketball and spent at least two decades playing on teams at the YMCA in both Sturgeon Bay and Eau Claire during his lunch hour. Gary always loved biking and about nine years ago he discovered Ebikes. You would find Gary riding anytime he had a chance. He was the guy with the music blasting as he explored the many bike trails in the Chippewa Valley and beyond. He loved talking about the approximately 10,000 miles he put on bikes. Gary’s other joys were photography, reading, and music. He has a collection of over 1000 CDs and who knows how many flash drives loaded with his favorite music. And his many Facebook friends know he could not pass a waterfall or a bridge or ducks without taking a picture or 100. Gary is survived by his wife, Marybeth; and his daughters, Breanne (Robbie) of Seattle, Washington, and Allison of River Falls, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Randy. We are so deeply going to miss Gary’s wacky sense of humor; his intriguing driving skills; his delight in winning card games; his passion for justice and equality; and his passionate love for and devotion to his family. A Memorial Service for Gary will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Chippewa Valley Cremation Services – Celebration of Life Center in Altoona. This event will be livestreamed on www.chippewavalleycremtion.com. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. at the Celebration of Life Center. After the service is adjourned, the family invites you to join them at the Firehouse in downtown Eau Claire to give Gary the party he wanted. William "Bill" George Brey

William (“Bill”) George Brey, age 73, a devoted husband and father, faithful steward of the land and humble servant of God, passed peacefully into eternal life on October 20, 2025. He was comforted by his family in his final days. Bill was born on March 30, 1952, to George and Dorothy (Dionne) Brey in Sturgeon Bay. After graduating from Southern Door High School in 1970, he attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and graduated with a degree in Animal Science. Bill then returned home to the family farm, which was established by his grandfather in 1904. Bill married the love of his life, Clarice (Wautier) on August 25, 1973. Together, Bill and Clarice built a beautiful life centered on faith, family and farming. They raised five children who all remained very close to Bill throughout his life and replicate his strong family values in their own lives. Bill’s eyes would light up whenever he would see his children, even as adults, and they all felt fiercely loved by him. Bill and Clarice were blessed with 15 grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them grow and succeed, encouraging them to take risks and work hard. Bill had many close lifelong friends that he met through the dairy farming community and could make a connection with anyone he met through his genuine personality and the way he made others feel important. He had a knack for sharing stories with laughter and positive energy. People enjoyed visiting with Bill as he was always ready for a chat or a friendly game of cards. His enthusiasm and bright smile will leave a big hole in the hearts of those who knew him. Bill’s biggest passion was farming. When he took over the family farm with Clarice, they aptly named it “Cycle Farm,” as Bill believed life is made up of sacred seasons of sowing and reaping, growing and resting, and passing on what was once received. Whether in tending fields, raising animals, or raising children, he understood that each season held purpose, and that every harvest began with faithful hands and a trusting heart. Bill was proud to witness the farm transition to his sons and their families. Bill’s belief in God guided his every step and gave him peace through all of life’s seasons, even as his health was declining. Through it all, he was lovingly cared for by his devoted wife of over 50 years, whose unwavering patience and compassion carried him through each day. Bill is survived by his wife, Clarice; his children Christy (Nathan) Vogel, Angie (Mark) Ulness, Katie (Menno) Huiser, Anthony (Moriah), Jacob (Lauren); and his cherished grandchildren Chloe, Emily, and Caleb Vogel, Clarissa, Garrett, Whitney and Walker Ulness, Hugo, Oliver, and Julia Huiser, Evan and Alexa Brey, Rosella, Willem and Giselle Brey. He was also survived by his sisters Mary Jo Hafeman, Charlotte Bero and Barbara (Robert) Borkovetz; sisters-in-law Sharon (Larry) Jauquet, Marilyn Renard, and Theresa (Jim) Gartman; brothers-in-law Joseph (Beverly) Wautier, James (Penny) Wautier; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson Micah Morris Brey, parents George and Dorothy, father-in-law and mother-in-law Norman and Ethel Wautier and brothers-in-law Terry Bero, Dennis Hafeman, Ronald Renard and John Wautier. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at Holy Name of Mary Church in Maplewood on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 9:30-11 a.m. A funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. with Reverend William Brunner and Deacon Mark Hibbs officiating, with burial immediately following. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Wolfram and staff at Bellin Cardiology and the staff at Rennes Health & Rehab Center in DePere for their compassionate care. Bill’s work is complete and his hands rest from their labor. We rejoice that he has entered into the joy of his Lord (Matthew 25:21) where the fields are forever green and the harvest never ends. The seeds Bill planted — in the soil, in his faith and in the hearts of those he loved — will continue to grow for generations to come.

LaLuzerne passed away peacefully and awoke to new life in Christ on October 14, 2025. Elaine was born November 22, 1937, in Rudyard, MI to Elmer and Florence (English) Toppe. The family moved to Door County when Elaine was 5 years old. She has lived in Sturgeon Bay since elementary school. After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1955, she attended DK Teachers College in Algoma, WI. There she met Darrel LaLuzerne. They were married on August 7, 1958. They both taught in Door County public schools until the birth of their first child, Cindy, in 1964. They bought their home in Sturgeon Bay that same year. Son Joe followed in 1966, and Elaine had the joy of being a stay-at-home mom until Cindy and Joe were in Junior High. She loved raising her children, being the welcoming Mom to all the neighbor kids. She loved keeping a cozy home and welcoming all family and friends for hundreds of delicious home-cooked meals, fellowship, and always laughter. She returned to teaching at Wigwam Nursery School and retired from that role after her children graduated from college. She was a beloved teacher and has kept in contact with several of her former students, even in recent years. Elaine has been a member of First Baptist Church in Sturgeon Bay since she was 18 years old. She served FBC in many capacities until her recent health decline. She taught Sunday School, led Women's Groups, worked with the Awana and later "Kids Clubs" programs. Darrel and Elaine's backyard was often the place where young people gathered for a game of driveway basketball, kick the can, cookouts, and a lot of good-natured shenanigans, which she took in stride. They were happy to continue this tradition of welcoming their kids' college friends, and later grandchildren and their friends who wanted to come "home" to beautiful Door County and enjoy homemade food, desserts, and tours of the county guided by Darrel and Elaine. She was the best care package sender and loved writing cards and letters to friends and family. In addition to her many areas of service in Church, she was a member of the Door County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary until her health declined. Elaine loved people. She offered heartfelt compassion and treated everyone with dignity and grace. Her love was unconditional. Elaine loved Darrel, her husband of 67 years. They were the best of friends and enjoyed their life together immensely. They found joy in the simple things. Traveling to MN to visit their children and grandchildren was top priority. They loved taking the ferry to Michigan to visit her sister. They enjoyed the beautiful parks of Door County, hiking, having picnics by the water, and watching the sunset at the stone quarry. Gary Andrew Krzysiak

Gary A. Krzysiak, 77, of Algoma, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, October 13, 2025. The son of Joseph and Agnes (Wavrunek) Krzysiak was born March 28, 1948, in Antigo, Wisconsin, attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Antigo High School, Class of 1966. With a great desire to see the world, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1966 to 1970. He was deployed to Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam as a naval aviation mechanic. While stationed in Japan, he put 10,000 miles on his motorcycle, and throughout his life, he never lost his taste for Asian food. Gary married Laura (Dier) Krzysiak on August 25, 1973, at St. Mary’s Church in Algoma, WI, and they recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary. They were blessed with one son: Andrew M. Krzysiak (Kristina Sterup) of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and two precious grandchildren, Landon Andrew and Claire Ann. After military service, Gary attended UW-Stevens Point and later completed a Sheet Metal Apprenticeship. Gary was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 18, working as a journeyman for 30+ years. In his retirement, he enjoyed creating custom copper work, including the cupola on the Algoma Chamber of Commerce Building, as well as various projects throughout Door and Kewaunee Counties. Gary used his mechanical and project management skills on many improvement projects at St. Mary’s School and church buildings. In his “free” retirement time, Gary earned his commercial fishing license and worked for several charter services in the area. He also obtained his CDL license and worked for Lamar's Bus Service, driving tour groups throughout the Midwest. Gary loved hunting and fishing, and shared those passions with his son, Andrew, and his lifelong friend, Ron Hull, with whom he hunted game birds. Many trips were taken to Colorado and Montana with Andrew and his hunting pals. The trips became the source for the oft-repeated stories about their hunting exploits that grew better with every telling. Gary also loved traveling and took the family on many vacations, particularly to the Western United States. Winters were spent in warmer climates, including Yuma, Arizona, and Gulf Shores, Alabama. Gary’s motorcycle often traveled with them and he cruised near and far whenever the weather permitted. The Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola was a frequent stop, because Gary never lost his love for a beautiful Navy plane. Gary loved to play Sheepshead, and Laura and he enjoyed many games with friends in Algoma, Antigo, and Gulf Shores. He particularly enjoyed playing with his mother-in-law, Jeanette, and his mentor, Louie Klemp, but rarely beat them! Cribbage was also a favorite game, and Laura and he started each day with coffee and a few games. Survivors include Laura, Andrew, Kristina, Landon, and Claire; Siblings Joe (Jeanie), Lake Havasu, Arizona; Kathy (Steve) Rolling, Antigo, Wisconsin; Cyndi (John) Hammond, Taylor, Wisconsin. Marilyn Cleary

Marilyn Ruth Cleary (Blazek), a truly remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully went home to the Lord on October 4, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that has touched the hearts of all who knew her. Born on December 26, 1930, a daughter of Gerald and Anna Blazek, Marilyn later graduated from Messmer Catholic High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Even as a senior in high school, Marilyn's commitment to her faith was evident. She entered a Catholic essay writing contest, where she wrote about modeling marriage after the Holy Family. Her essay not only earned her second place but also became a guiding principle in her life. Marilyn exemplified this model of the Holy Family throughout her married life, praying rosaries for others in their times of need, teaching her family how to pray, and leading a life of service to God and others. Marilyn met the love of her life, Francis, at a Catholic Social Club dance in Milwaukee, WI in the 1950s. They were married on August 23, 1958, at Mother of Good Counsel in Milwaukee, and together they raised their family of six children in the Town of Erin, Wisconsin. Demonstrating her exceptional versatility, she adapted to life in the country after being a city girl during her youth. Marilyn's professional journey included roles at the Wisconsin Telephone Company, Allis-Chalmers, and Badger Meter Inc., where she retired in 1992. However, her most cherished role was as a devoted mother and wife, focusing on raising her children and caring for her husband. Marilyn's adventurous spirit led her to travel to many of the most majestic mountain ranges. After building their lovely home in Door County, WI, she and Francis took their dream vacation to Alaska in 1995, where Marilyn drove approximately 5,000 miles across Canada and on the Alaskan Highway. She also traveled 14 times to Banff National Park, often saying, "The mountains are calling and I must go!" She cherished friendships with those she met through her involvement in Red Hatters and the Corpus Christi Women’s Group, in addition to many lifelong friends and travel partners. She will be dearly missed by her children, James (Kathleen) Cleary, David (Jennifer) Cleary, Sandra (Eric) Pulver, Steve Cleary, and Julie (Shane) Watters; thirteen grandchildren, Sheila Cleary, Daniel Cleary, Natalie Cleary, Craig Cleary, Megan (John) Zimmermann, Grant Pulver, Ryan (Kendall) Cleary, Brandon Cleary, Kyle Cleary, Sarah Watters, David Watters, Christopher Watters, and Matthew Watters; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sister, Dorothy (Carl) Basco and sister-in-law Nancy Blazek. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many wonderful friends. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Anna Blazek; husband Francis Cleary; son Donald Cleary; brothers, Robert Blazek, Gerald (Connie) Blazek, and Donald Blazek; daughter in-law Vicky Cleary. Marilyn's life was a testament to her faith and love for others. Her favorite prayers, the Memorare and the Prayer of St. Francis, will continue to inspire those who knew her. As we remember Marilyn, let us think of her and Francis enjoying the beautiful mountain views from the Kingdom of Heaven. She has now joined the heavenly choir, watching over us with the same care and devotion she showed throughout her life. Visitation for Marilyn will be on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Forbes Funeral Home (319 W Spruce St., Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235) with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 pm. CarolJean Antholt

CarolJean Antholt was met at the pearly gates of heaven by her husband Ron in the early hours of Monday, October 6th, 2025, 27 days after his passing. She will be missed by all who loved her. Carol was born on July 5, 1944, to Clarence and Cebell (Krause) Weckler. She was one of twelve children. Carol was a homemaker for most of her life, with her only job being at Fisherman's Table. Carol had a special spark in the kitchen. Her recipes forever warmed our hearts, even when she'd forget to share a secret ingredient. Carol had a love for little red mustangs and the speed she could reach. Racing her son's friends on the highway was always a memory that brought a smile to her face. You could often find Carol and Ron sneaking away to the casino or gambling for nickels with the family. She taught all her grandchildren how to play poker at a young age. She also loved the game of Aggravation, which she played weekly with her granddaughter, Kristalyn, until her final days. Every year, Carol and Ron would escape the blustery Wisconsin winters and find themselves in the sunny state of Florida. Many times, they would take their grandchildren along for the ride, enjoying sun-warmed ham and cheese sandwiches and getting various tattoos. Her later years were blessed by the fantastic staff at the SNF. She had ears that could hear a pin drop and often shared gossip with the staff, including nurses, food service personnel, cleaners, and other residents. She was very proud that the SNF kitchen had used several of her recipes. Between bingo, nickels, and the arts & crafts, she stayed busy and made many new friends. Carol is survived by her son, Ronald 'Nuts' Antholt, and daughter Peggy (Dale) DeGrave, her grandchildren, Dixie, Michael, Wendy, Kristalyn, Brittany, Willy, Dylan, Brett, and 17 great-grandchildren, along with her brother, Sherwood (Ruth) Weckler, and many nieces and nephews. Carol was met in Heaven by her husband, parents, and ten siblings. Funeral services will be 11:30 am Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service. A special thank you to the staff at the SNF for their love and support over the last three years, as well as their comfort and compassion till the very end.

David O. Baldwin

David Orlin Baldwin, 75, of Forestville, passed away on Sunday at Door County Medical Center. He was born on November 10, 1949, in Libertyville, IL, the son of the late Vincent and Constance (Stockwell) Baldwin. David graduated from Libertyville High School in 1967 and later served as Vice President of the Curative Rehabilitation Center in Green Bay until his retirement. On August 11, 1982, David married Bonnie Lee Pratsch on the waters of Death's Door. He is survived by his two daughters, Heather Baldwin (Philipp Luders) of the Netherlands and Robin Baldwin of Virginia; two step-sons, Chad and Harlan Anderson of Green Bay, WI; six grandchildren: Lindsey, Ashley, Brianna, Robert Jr., Conner, and Cameron; one great-grandchild, Melanie; and three siblings: Richard Baldwin of Milwaukee, Priscilla Cane of Providence, Rhode Island, and Mary Nelson of La Grange, IL. David spent his career helping others through his work in rehabilitation services, always offering support, encouragement, and a belief in second chances. That same compassion extended beyond his profession. In his spare time, he volunteered with R-PAWS through the Beach Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay, helping to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife and return them to their natural homes. Whether it was a fox, a fawn, or a raccoon, he cared deeply for all living things. A lifelong nature lover, David found peace and joy in the outdoors. He loved hiking through wooded trails, watching the waves roll in on Lake Michigan, and exploring the vast, open landscapes of the American Southwest, a region that held a special place in his heart. The Kewaunee Lighthouse, overlooking the lake he cherished, was a place of deep personal meaning for him. His ashes will be spread there, just as his beloved wife, Bonnie Baldwin's, were in 2016. David was a hiker, a horse enthusiast, a music lover, and a free spirit at heart. He was always ready for a meaningful conversation, a laugh, or simply a quiet moment in nature. David was the kind of person you could talk to for hours. He listened well, spoke thoughtfully, and made people feel at ease. He had a storyteller's charm and a warm presence that will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. In honor of David's love for wildlife and his work with R-PAWS, the family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Beach Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in his name. Patrick "Pat" M. Judy

Patrick “Pat” M. Judy— musician, father, brother, and NFL team owner— passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Door County Medical Center. He was best known locally as a founding member of Big Mouth, a dynamic fusion band performing originals and covers across the genres of rock, blues, funk, and jazz. He was 76 years old. Pat was born on August 19, 1949 in Mansfield, Ohio; the son of the late Mahlon and Anna (Bayer) Judy. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1967, and served in the Air National Guard. His musical journey began at age four when he was given his first set of brushes, and by high school, he was performing in every musical ensemble available to him. At age 13, Pat got his first paying gig playing at the local Liederkranz Hall, filling in for the band’s sick drummer. Immediately, his passion became his profession, and from that point forward, he would never stop entertaining crowds with live music. With bands Smile and Quest, he went on a nine-year nationwide tour, bringing the funk to 32 states. His mother remarried to Duncan Thorp and retired to the village of Fish Creek, Wisconsin. Pat fell in love with Door County during his visits, and in 1987, he met Paul Sowinski, who asked him to sit in with his Off-Center Jazz Band. When Paul offered him a regular drumming job, he followed his heart, took the gig and moved with his wife to the county seat, Sturgeon Bay. Pat instilled his own love for Door County (and the Green Bay Packers) into the hearts of his two children, who treasure their memories of summers in Fish Creek there as much as their inherited passion and talent for music. Now at home in Door County, Pat was able to lend his talents to myriad regional ensembles, including Peninsula Players, American Folklore Theatre, Blue Circle Theatre, and the Swing Time Big Band. He is, however, best known for delighting audiences all over Wisconsin as the drummer for Big Mouth, a quartet formed by Pat, Paul, Jay Whitney, and Woody Mankowski, which set a new pace on the trail blazed by Off-Center and The Amnesians. Big Mouth ultimately evolved into the mighty, eleven-piece Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns— an act that’s still in high demand today. Even while residing for the past few years in assisted care, Pat continued to deliver great musical performances, sitting in on gigs at various local venues. At the nursing facility, he offered regular concerts featuring his brother and friends, striking his final downbeat less than two weeks before he was called home. The drums are now silent, but his song continues through the 60-year gift of music that he shared with his family, his friends, and over a million listeners and fans. Pat is survived by his life partner, Dawn Foxx of Sturgeon Bay, WI; his children, Matthew Judy (Aimee) of Dublin, OH, and Kera Judy (Metney Jensen) of Moore, ID; his brother, Mike Judy (April Pate) of Sturgeon Bay, WI; his niece, Ariel Pate (Josh Nelson); Dawn's children, Curt Foxx (Elizabeth) of Los Angeles, CA, and Cary Foxx (Rachel) of Champaign, IL; four grandchildren, and countless friends and bandmates. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Pat’s life on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Huehns Funeral Home from 12:00–3:00 p.m., with a message to be delivered by Chaplain John Hauser at 2:30 p.m. Pat will be interred at the Thorp family plot at Blossomberg Cemetery. Pat and Dawn give their heartfelt thanks to the staff and doctors of the Door County Medical Center and the Pete and Jelaine Horton Center Skilled Nursing Facility for the care and compassion they have shown to Pat and his family for the past five years. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Pat may be shared with his family through his tribute page at www.HuehnsFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation at wish.org/donate.

Thomas E. Allyn

Thomas Edward Allyn, 80, passed away on September 25, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home in Sister Bay, WI. He was born October 27, 1944, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Paul and Palma Allyn. The family moved to San Bernadino, California in 1946, when Tom was 2. Tom attended Claremont High School and graduated with the class of 1962 and then attended college at San Francisco State University and received a degree in Anthropology. Tom moved from California to Door County where he met and married Victoria Champeau. They had two children, Arianna and Nic. On August 24, 2002, he married his second wife, Madeline. Growing up in the shadow of the San Bernardino Mountains, Tom developed a deep fascination with the natural world and especially geology. In his younger years, he climbed Mt. Whitney and biked through the Sierra Mountains. In his later years, he explored the ancient coral reefs buried below the soil of Door County and could often be found scouring your local decorative rock bed. His rock-hound nature is shared by his grandson Jack, who loved learning about rocks from his grandpa. Tom was a voracious reader with an extensive library. He loved books on history from the ancient world to WWII. If you showed any interest in a subject, he was happy to lend you a book, as long as you took care of it, and did not break the spine! Tom was a carpenter by trade for almost 50 years and was a co-founder of Great Northern Construction. He especially enjoyed remodeling and solving difficult problems. When Tom showed up on a job it would not be long before he was dragging his co-workers through crawl spaces and attics to find wood rot and other problems that needed fixing. He took great pride in his work and in the people he worked with. Some of his best and oldest friends in Door County were the guys he worked with at Great Northern. Thomas will be missed by his wife, Madeline; daughter, Arianna Allyn; son, Nicolas Allyn and his wife Frances; sisters, Ann Lodge, and Barbara Collins and her husband Robert; stepdaughters, Kate Rispens and her husband Marty and Anna Calhoun and her husband Jon; grandchildren, Jack Allyn and Jane Allyn; and step-grandchildren, Ava Ellefson and Jackson Olson.
