Susan E. Weber, 65, peacefully passed away early Sunday morning, November 27, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

     Susie, as she always preferred, was born June 23, 1957 to loving parents, Clarence and Dorothy (Teich) Brungraber in Sturgeon Bay. She was extremely proud to call Door County home, and spent her entire life living, loving, and experiencing all she could with her time in this world. Susie spent several years as a stay-at-home mother after starting a family to care for her children, instill core values, and never let them forget how special they were to her and loved beyond any words she could express. She decided to return to work as her children grew, and spent her entire career at Cadence Inc., where she assisted in making medical device components that helped countless people live more normal, healthy lives. This was the essence of her; she had a heart that could not be measured by any metric, gave her love, skills and knowledge without fear or question, and touched countless lives in her time on Earth. She also spent her time helping her husband, Jack, at his business Niagara Chemical, and working on the family farm. Her favorite activities and pastimes included spending time with her kids, taking them to countless sporting events, for which she never missed a single game, weekend campfires with family and friends, taking walks with her siblings through every Door County park and trail system, fishing, and boat rides. As she could not wait to become a grandmother, Susie spent the last several years of her life adoring, and spoiling, her grandchildren, spending as much time as she could loving them.

     On August 27, 1977, Susie married John “Jack” Weber at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport. Jack passed away July 30, 2016.

     Her spirit and legacy are carried on by her loving children, Kyle (Jen Domino) Weber of Sturgeon Bay, Greg Weber of Boston, MA, Allison (Brad) Holland of Hartland, WI; grandchildren, Harper and Jack Holland; siblings, Gloria (David) Pizzala, John (Lorrie) Brungraber, twin and partner-in-crime, Cindy (Jim) Noll, Jane (Bob) Goggins; and all her much-loved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

     She was preceded into death by her devoted husband; and her loving parents.

     Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, West Jacksonport on Friday, December 2, 2022 with Pastor Peter Lindemann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

     Visitation will be held at Huehns Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022 and continue on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. to the time of the service.

     The children would like to express their profound gratitude to their family, friends and all the health care professionals that were there to love, support, and care for her this past year.

     In lieu of flowers, Susie humbly requested any donations be directed to the Door County Land Trust, or any of the various parks of Door County, so that others may continue to experience all the beautiful places Door County has to offer and find happiness and joy in them as she did.

     Vernon Fred Augustine, 83 years, of Sturgeon Bay was called home Wednesday November 23, 2022 from Anna’s Health Care where he resided for the past few years.

     Vernon was born September 15, 1939 in Marinette County, the son of the late Murray and Olga (Heisel) Augustine.  He worked on the family farm eventually moving to the Fond Du Lac area to work on a family farm for 30 years.   Vernon eventually would become the long-term caregiver of the folks he worked for as they retired and needed more physical help with day to day living and health care.  He loved being a caregiver for them. 

     Vernon was always happy, smiles greeted everyone.  He had a strong work ethic and always finished what he started. Vernon was known as the energizer at Anna’s as he never stopped doing something at Anna’s where he was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.  

     Survivors include his five siblings, Adeline Brown of Fond Du Lac, Harold (Dang) of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Betty Forest of Sturgeon Bay, Mary Mintner of New London, Kathleen Dietrich of Plover, WI; nieces and nephews.

     Preceding him in death were his parents, Murray and Olga Augustine; four siblings, Angeline Percente, Raymond, Marian Young and Irene Schlichting.

     Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2022 at Huehns Funeral Home with Sue Johnson officiating.  Burial will be at South Maine Cemetery near Shiocton.

Charles M. Corcoran, 73, of Sturgeon Bay, died at his home Thursday morning, Thanksgiving, November 24, 2022 after suffering an apparent heart attack getting ready to spend the day together with his family. 

     He was born February 14, 1949 in Sturgeon Bay the son of Lawrence and Mary Ann (Allie) Corcoran.  Charlie graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School before serving his country in Germany during Vietnam War with the U.S. Army.  On August 16, 1969 he married Charlene “Char” E. Rankin.  Together they owned and operated Corcoran’s Marine for 41 years. They started in 1980 with nothing and built a successful business that clients from all walks of life trusted and relied on for all their boating needs. 

     Charlie was always mechanically inclined and loved spending time teaching those who wanted to learn about motors, engines, and anything mechanical. He had worked for Bertrand’s Sporting Goods when starting out, Quigley Marine in Green Bay, and Macken’s Pontiac.  He even worked at Bay Ship to make ends meet when starting his business in 1980. Charlie was patient, good humored, honest and the nicest guy you’d ever meet.  He was fair and took time with you, the clock wasn’t always running and that smell of his corn cob pipe was comforting because you knew it was Charlie you were spending time with.  Charlie grew up in the era of searching for information through manuals and microfiche, that was his world and he excelled in it.  A flip phone was as technical as he preferred to get. 

     His stories of the early years growing up in Sturgeon Bay were legendary.  Those friends remained life long friends he always treasured.  His dear friends, Doni and Chum and the many others made up the brain trust who were familiars at the shop and around the vice. 

     Survivors include his two children, Todd (Tonya) of Green Bay, Wendy of Sturgeon Bay; two grandsons, Colton and Connor; two brothers, Lawrence Jr. (Kay) Corcoran of Brussels, Pat (Barb) Corcoran of Sturgeon Bay; sister, Kathy Corcoran of Santa Barbara, CA; mother-in-law, Emma Hayot; sister-in-law, Charlotte Lenius of Sturgeon Bay; nieces and nephews.

     Preceding him in death were his parents, Lawrence and Mary Ann Corcoran; wife, Char Corcoran; infant son, Kurt Charles Corcoran; sister, Karen (Tom) Virlee; brother-in-law, Dale Lenius; fathers-in-law, Louis Rankin and Auguste Hayot.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Fr. Ryan Krueger officiating and Fr. Anthony Birdsall and Deacon Mark Hibbs assisting.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post #3088.

Jo Ann Irene Bissen (nee Debold), 81, of Brussels passed away November 24, 2022, with her husband, Ivan at her side. She was born on June 6, 1941, in Hokah, Minnesota to Lloyd and Irene Debold. She graduated from St. Peter’s Catholic School in 1958 and married Ivan Bissen on October 17, 1959.

Jo Ann lived a life of many passions including gardening, cooking, canning and painting. For many years she volunteered her time sharing her love for painting at the Door County Senior Center. But the guiding force of her life was undoubtedly the love and care she showed every day to her family. Jo Ann spent many summers at their cabin in the mountains of Wyoming and wintered by the sandy beaches of Marco Island, Florida. 

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ivan Bissen; her son, Rick (special friend, Peggy) Bissen of Brussels; and daughters, Sharon Patterson of Sonoma, CA; Marie Murphy of Durango, CO; and Patti (Tim) Bissen-Taylor of Brussels; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and her sister, Carol Jean Debold. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Irene Debold; brother-in-law, Michael Bissen; and daughter-in-law, Denise (Pierzchalski) Bissen.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 Thursday, December 1, 2022, at St. Francis and St. Mary’s Parish in Brussels with Rev. Alberta Ida Grovogel, 87, of Sturgeon Bay, died on Nov. 21, 2022, at Anna’s Health Care (Bay View Senior Care) in Sturgeon Bay.  She was born June 1, 1935, in Sturgeon Bay to Albert and Emma (Werkheiser) Klansky.  On Dec. 10, 1955, she married John Grovogel at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2015. 

Alberta was a very hard worker and talented seamstress.  In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Doerr Electric for 13 years and also picked apples and cherries.  She loved cooking, canning, crafting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her family was her passion and priority.

Survivors include 6 children, Susie (Kenneth, deceased) Greig, Bellingham, WA; Kathryn (Bruce) Doar, Appleton; Daniel (Carol Belongia) Grovogel, Sturgeon Bay; John (Mary Hafeman) Grovogel, Forestville; Mary (Robert) LaLuzerne, Forestville; Gary (Pamela Siegmund) Grovogel, Algoma; 12 grandchildren, Troy, Heather (Jared), Ashley, Rhett (Heather), Travis (Holly), Jessica (Jason), Jacob (Jenny), Jamie, Nicholas, Heidi, Aaron, and Jeffrey; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Ralph Klansky, Baileys Harbor, sister-in-law Jean Klansky, Sturgeon Bay.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Kenneth Greig, 2 brothers, Gerald (Vera) Klansky and Albert Klansky, sister-in-law Lorraine Klansky.

Dale P. Romuald, 76, Luxemburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022, with his family at his side at the Sycamore Lodge Home in Luxemburg. He was born in Green Bay on April 6, 1946, to the late Julian and Rose (Tassoul) Romuald.  On September 18, 1976, Dale married Kathleen Nejedlo at Nativity Catholic Church in Green Bay.

Dale graduated from Luxemburg High School and went on to NWTC for an Accounting Degree and was employed with Packaging Credit Union as President for many years.  He later was employed with the Bank of Luxemburg until his retirement.  In addition, he owned and operated a dairy farm until his illness.

He was a member of the L-C Jaycees, the Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce, and St. Joseph Church in Champion.

His enjoyments included playing cards, polka dancing, operating his farm, and spending time with his grandson, Eli.

Dale will be missed by his wife of 46 years Kathy; his son Jeff Romuald; his daughter Jenny (Jake) Grovogel; one grandson Eli; three brothers in law and two sisters in law, Gary (Carol) Nejedlo, Richard Nejedlo Jr, Sue (Dennis) Mleziva; nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and two brothers in law, Germaine and Myron Prevost, Wayne Nejedlo; his father in law and mother in law Richard and Lucille Nejedlo.

Doris J. Te Kulve, 82, Luxemburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 20, 2022, at St. Mary Hospital, Green Bay.  She was born on May 30, 1940, to the late Donald and Jean (Lensink) Harmelink in Cedar Grove, WI.  Doris married Roger Lee Te Kulve on August 15th, 1959, in Cedar Grove, WI.  After marriage they moved to Sheboygan.  They had two children while in Sheboygan and then moved to Menominee, MI where their third child was born.  They then moved to Luxemburg, WI.  She was active at Northbrook working and golfing.  She loved to cook, play cards, camp at Quiet woods South, and acted in plays at Northbrook.  She was one of the first members of the Luxemburg Rescue Squad and remained for 16 years.  Doris was a visiting nurse CNA, bus driver, Chamber of Commerce Service Award recipient, and ran the ADRC meal site.  She babysat for 35 years in her home.  Roger and Doris were married for 57 years when he passed on October 15, 2016.

She is survived by her children Jodi Seidl (Gene); Cory Te Kulve (Janelle); Lee Ann Salentine (Dick); ten grandchildren Brent Te Kulve (Sarah); Josh Seidl (special friend Chris); Nick Salentine (Rushina); Brittany DeMeuse (Paul); Chris Seidl (Nicole); Jordan Salentine (Ashley); Godson Zach Seidl (Heather); Megan Dillenburg (Tyler); Briana Salentine; Bryce Te Kulve; twelve great grandchildren Michael, Mason, Jackson, Brandon, Brantley, Cayden, Logan, Raelynn, Talon, Gabrielle, Camryn, Rylie; her siblings Richard Harmelink (Grace); Carol Wieberdink (Dave); David Harmelink (Patti); nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Roger, her parents, Donald and Jean Harmelink, her father in law and mother in law, John and Kathryn Te Kulve.

Germaine C. Wink, 97, Luxemburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 20, 2022, surrounded by her family.  She was born in Kaukauna on October 1, 1925, to the late John F. and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Weyenberg) Heindel.  On December 21, 1943, Germaine married Lloyd W. Wink in Forest Junction.  He preceded her in death November 13, 2010.

Alice G. Schley, 92, Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully Nov. 16, 2022 at the Sturgeon Bay Health Services.  She was born April 12, 1930 in Hainesville to Arndt and Anna (Kolstad) Valley.
Alice married Arwed Schley, September 6, 1952.  Alice farmed alongside Arwed and enjoyed raising up to 250 chickens to supply eggs to many families.  She also enjoyed knitting baby sweaters and blankets that a friend sold at craft shows.  
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society.  
Survivors include her daughter, Gail and son Dale (Kathy), all of Sturgeon Bay; two grandchildren Kaylyn (Dustin) Ackerman and Ryan Schley; four great grandchildren Benjamin, Adelynn, Maxwell and Amelia Ackerman; her twin sister Arlene Lenius as well as many nieces and nephews.  A very special neighbor Ron and Ginger Clark.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Arwed in 2013.
There will be a public visitation for Alice, Monday, Nov. 21, 2022 at the Schinderle Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Prayer service at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Forestville from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Christopher Jackson officiating.  Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Marlene R. Schrank, 69, of Manitowoc, passed away at her home on November 13, 2022.  She was born June 8, 1953, in Sturgeon Bay to Joseph and Lucille (Weldon) Goetz.  Marlene grew up in Green Bay and graduated from St. Joseph Academy. 

For most of her life, Marlene worked for Anheuser Busch Brewery in Manitowoc.  For a number of years, she also co-owned and operated Goetz’s Resort in Little Sturgeon.  She loved spending time at her home in Little Sturgeon.  She especially enjoyed fishing, kayaking, swimming, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include two children, Jamie Schrank, Manitowoc; Cassie (Shawn) Snyder, Manitowoc; six grandchildren, Dezirae, Deven, E.J., Ryder, Isaac, and Carter; a sister, Mary Meissner (special friend Renn Braun) Little Sturgeon; nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Tom and Paul Goetz; nephew Marshall Meissner.

Paul G. Seidl, 63, DePere, died peacefully late Thursday evening November 10, 2022.  He was born September 21, 1959, to Muriel (Dalebroux) Seidl and the late Harold Seidl.  He attended St. Mary Elementary School in Luxemburg and graduated from Luxemburg-Casco High School in 1977, where he participated in football and wrestling.  He graduated from UW-Madison in 1988 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  Paul was employed at Durr Megtec, DePere, for many years where he enjoyed his many travels around the world.  His favorite places to travel included Germany and France.  He will be greatly missed by his family, especially his sense of humor at holiday gatherings.

Survivors include his mother Muriel Seidl, Luxemburg; his four brothers, Russ (Ann) Seidl, Green Bay; Andy Seidl, Green Bay; Mark Seidl, Mishicot; Alan Seidl, Luxemburg; one sister Ann Seidl, Eau Claire; two nieces, Elizabeth (Kurtis) Larson and Lauren (Garrett) Johnson; three nephews, Austin, Mitchel and Parker Abts; one great nephew Spencer and two great nieces, Samantha and Lucy.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Harold Seidl; his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Lois Jean Gunnlaugson, 87, Algoma, was called to heaven on Friday, November 4, 2022.  She was at her home surrounded by her family.  Lois was born August 28, 1935 to Hannes Hannesson and Luella (Johnson) on Washington Island.

Lois graduated from the Washington Island High School in 1953.  

Lois married John Gunnlaugson, November 20, 1954.  They moved to Kenosha where they owned and operated Lakeside Foods.  In the 70's they moved back to Washington Island where Lois worked and managed Washington Town Mutual Insurance Company.  After she retired they moved to Algoma, where she enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family.

Lois is survived by her five children, Vicki Burke, Jon (Shelly), Bill, James (Heather) and Mari (Robert) Houston; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, infant brother Glen, son-in-law Bill Burke, sister and brother-in-law Janet (Bud) Waage, father-in-law and mother-in-law Jake and June (Jesson) Gunnlaugson.

Mark “Wink” Winkel, 59, of Forestville passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 3, 2022. Wink was an avid outdoorsman who found the most peace and solace when he was part of nature fishing and hunting. He looked forward all year to the holy month of November which he spent in Northern Wisconsin. It brings his family solace knowing that he left this earth spending time in the place he loved most. When he wasn’t deer hunting, Wink could be found fly fishing in the Driftless Area of Southwestern Wisconsin or braving the cold ice fishing.

     Born in Ashland, Wisconsin on May 10, 1963, Wink always had dreams of moving back north of Highway 8. In his early years, the family moved to New London, Wisconsin where he attended schooling at Precious Blood Elementary School and New London public schools. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and acquired a degree in Natural Resources with a law enforcement emphasis. Between his dedication to his studies, participating in the Army ROTC program, carousing with his Siasefi brothers, and his lifelong appreciation of Susan Lucci, he somehow found time to meet the real love of his life, Joan. He went on to build a life with her, raising two very lucky children in an incredibly loving and supportive home.

     Wink dedicated his life to public service earning a commission as an Army Officer on May 19,1985 where he served in the National Guard while also beginning his 32-year career as an investigator and law enforcement officer with the Door County Sheriff's Department. Throughout his career, he expressed genuine fulfilment and sense of purpose in both his work and the relationships established through his time in the force. Though he retired from full-time service in April of 2018, his passion kept him close, working as a Special Deputy whenever needed.

     He is survived by his loving wife Joan (Ludwig); son Nick (Amanda Krebsbach) and three grandchildren; daughter Madeline (Chris Aalid); and parents Robert and Jocelyn. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews, and hunting and fishing friends.

    Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday November 12, 2022, at Huehns Funeral Home with Fr. Anthony Birdsall officiating.  Friends may call Saturday at Huehns Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. County Sherriff honors will follow the service.

     A memorial scholarship fund will be established in Mark’s name at Sturgeon Bay High School for those planning on entering Forestry service or police science.

Cheryl Ann (Berger) Stradel, 74 years of Sturgeon Bay, died Friday, November 4, 2022, at Cherry Cove Assisted Living and Memory Care.

     She was born February 2, 1948, in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Donald and Emily (Destree) Berger. Cheryl graduated from Southern Door High School in 1966. She would eventually buy her parents tavern and restaurant business, Berger’s in Little Sturgeon. Cheryl married Joel Stradel May 6, 1981.

     Cheryl was a hard-working independent woman who loved her family very much. Cheryl loved to go fishing with her husband Joel in Fremont, playing bingo, cards, trapshooting.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brother, Bruce Berger; brother-in-law, Eldor Eichorst; and sister-in-law, Lois Eichorst.

     Surviving family members include her three children, Jeff (Christine) DeWitt of Sturgeon Bay, Faye (Jeff) Nedobeck of Green Bay, and Serphin (Sherry) DeWitt of Brillion; six grandchildren, Dakota (Samantha) Henschel, Kelsey Fels (Krissy), Amanda (Brett) Antholt, Ty DeWitt, Payton Nedobeck, and Brice Nedobeck; eight great-grandchildren; her sisters, Colleen (Bob) Wautlet of Green Bay, and Claire (Gary) Bichler of Belgium, WI; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jay (Sharon) Stradel; nieces and nephews, Dale Eichorst, Dennis Eichorst, Cheryl Grassel, Jeff Stradel, Joe Stradel, Julie Graff, God Son, Bruce (Karen) Wautlet, Bobby (Jamie) Wautlet, Emily (Kenny) Dornburg, and Ali (Tony) Maher

     A celebration of her life will be held later and will be announced for all to attend.

Sister Bay businesswoman and community leader, Marilyn J. Jensen-Van Gemert, 66 years of age, of Fish Creek, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 2, 2022. She fought a gracious and dignified battle against Creutzfeldt Jakob disease. Marilyn was the current owner of Sister Bay Trading Company, and was highly sought after for her interior designing talents.

She was born December 9, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. Marilyn spent summers in Jackson Harbor on Washington Island, helping her grandparents, Charles and Mayme run the family resort, Lindgren Cottages. In addition, she worked at Foscos Fiasco. Every spare minute she spent with her horses, Cinnamon, Ginger, and Spice.

Marilyn and John Jensen spent summers camping in Peninsula Park while selling John’s handmade oak furniture at different venues.

They eventually moved to Sister Bay full-time in 1985 after building their first store, Country Oak, across from the Country Walk Shops. They founded Sister Bay Trading Company in 1994 and transitioned to their new current home on Hwy 42 in 1999. Sister Bay Trading continues to thrive at that location.

Marilyn had a natural talent for interior design. She and John built their first Sister Bay home, which was later featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, for its design and decoration.

Marilyn was the first woman to sit on the Sister Bay Village Board. She was elected on August 13, 1991 and served until April 14, 1998. She cast the deciding vote in favor of building the Sister Bay Village Marina.

Marilyn was also very active in the Sister Bay Advancement Association and the Chamber of Commerce. She had a passion for helping young women entrepreneurs in Interior Design and other young business people start their own businesses and become successful entrepreneurs.

Marilyn was passionate about animal welfare and served on the Door County Humane Society Board for 15 years, 12 as President. During her tenure, they procured land, built a state of the art facility, and with others, did the fundraising that satisfied the mortgage.

Marilyn’s love of animals was put on full display when Sister Bay Trading Company became one of the first dog-friendly stores on the peninsula which led to a movement convincing lodging establishments of the benefits of becoming pet-friendly.

More recently, Marilyn along with friends, sponsored the purchase and training of the Door County Sheriff’s Department new canine, TJ.

While raising funds for the Humane Society at Fall Fest in 2010, she met Rob Van Gemert and they were married on September 2, 2016.

Marilyn loved working with Rob outdoors, and she was an accomplished gardener and floral designer. Marilyn and Rob loved to travel and work outside together improving their properties. Marilyn especially loved throwing holiday parties and working out at the YMCA.

Marilyn will be missed by all those whose lives she touched either through business, volunteer work, or simply a friend she met along her journey. Her bright smile will be remembered always.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Rob Van Gemert of Fish Creek; her mother, Nancy Lindgren of Sister Bay; her brothers, Jim (Kathy) of Racine, Jack (friend Krista), Tom (Marge) of Kenosha; and sister-in-law, Darlene of Egg Harbor; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; and her twin brother, Steve.

Marilyn was cremated and a graveside ceremony will be held at Blossomberg Cemetery in Peninsula Park in the Springtime.

Rob would like to acknowledge the efforts of the Mayo Clinic, Unity Hospice, and the entire staff of the Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing Facility, who provided comfort for Marilyn and Rob as she endured the fight against Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease.

Marilyn had asked that any memorials in her memory be directed to the Humane Society of Wisconsin, Door County Campus, 3475 Park Drive, Sturgeon Bay, 54235.

MSgt Robert Edward Carney USAF (Ret.), Sr., 84, of Little Harbor in the Town of Sevastopol, WI, was called Home to be with the Lord and was reunited with his wife, Olivya, on Saturday, October 29, 2022 while in the comfort of his home with family at his side.

He was born July 4, 1938 in Villa Park, IL (on the west side of Chicago), the son of Robert Peter Carney and Esther (Inman) Carney. Bob grew up Presbyterian and attended Ironton Elementary School. He graduated from Fenton High School in Bensenville, IL. Bob went on to study chemistry and accounting at the University of Illinois briefly before transferring to Aurora College. He completed his undergraduate studies at Elmhurst College.

Bob first met Olivya Ann Bell in high school. They were united in marriage on November 10, 1962 at (Olivya’s) home church, First Presbyterian Church, in Itasca, IL where they remained members and Bob eventually served as a Deacon at.

Bob was drafted into military service and served with the United States Air Force actively and intermittently with its Reserves for over 15 (total) years. He retired from the Air Force and was honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant (MSgt) on October 10, 1978. In 1982, Bob looked to reenlist in the United States Army Reserves.

Outside of his active military service, he was initially employed as a rural carrier for the United States Post Office in Lombard, IL. Bob worked in sales for Harshaw Chemical (part of Huber Chemical) out of Cleveland, OH. He was a paymaster for the Air Force Reserve in Northern Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.

He was a former member of the Rising Sun #115 Masonic Lodge in Grayslake, IL and eventually became a Master Mason.

Bob and Olivya moved to Door County, WI, in 1978, a place Olivya’s family used to vacation to. They lived together in Little Harbor in the Town of Sevastopol. Bob was a Supervisor of Navy ship building for Peterson Builders, Inc. (PBI) in Sturgeon Bay and also Marinette Marine. Together, he and Olivya grew in their (Christian) faith, as they attended the Sturgeon Bay Community Church. As a veteran Bob, was a member of the American Legion Post 72 of Sturgeon Bay, WI. Bob was a perpetual member of the Free & Accepted Masons Henry S. Baird #174 Masonic Lodge (while Olivya was a member of the Honor Chapter #1 Order of the Eastern Star (OES)) in Sturgeon Bay and was a former Organist with the Lodge. As a Master Mason, he was also a member of the Valley of Green Bay Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and a leader of the Rose Croix. Bob was member and treasurer of the Peninsula Shrine Club (of the Green Bay Beja Shrine [of Shriners International]).

He was raised in a musical family (going all the way back to his grandfather) and enjoyed playing the clarinet among other instruments. Bob even played the clarinet in various Shriners parades and events. He learned to play the pipe organ at an early age and belonged to the Organ Historical Society in addition to teaching others how to play.

Bob and Olivya were blessed with over 57 years of marriage. Olivya passed away July 21, 2020.     

Bob will be missed by his sons, Robert (Leandra) Carney, Jr. of McHenry, IL and Terrance (Sandi) Carney of Menominee, MI; grandchildren, Nicholas Carney, and Sabrina Carney, Samantha Carney, and Cassandra Wudarczyk; great-grandson, Abel Forshee; step-grandchildren, Mark (Dawn) Fletcher, Charles (Lisa) Fletcher, and Sonny (Cynthia) Matthews; five step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Diane Madeje Carney of Portage; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; twin brother, Richard Carney; and great-grandson, Tyler Matthews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Huehns Funeral Home on Saturday, November 5, 2022 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a masonic service to be held at 6:30 p.m. and led by the Henry S. Baird #174 Masonic Lodge of Sturgeon Bay. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Pytleski, of Sturgeon Bay Community Church, officiating. Military honors by the United States Air Force and the George W. Goetz American Legion Post 372 of Forestville will follow at the funeral home.

Kay A. Schmidt, 79, New Franken, formerly of Maplewood, passed away, Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Anna's House in New Franken with her family at her side.  She was born October 13, 1943, in Algoma to Anthony and Lois (Zastrow) Blahnik.
Kay graduated from the Algoma High School in 1961.
Kay married Adrian (Ace) Schmidt Jr., August 25, 1962.  Kay helped on the family farm and worked in sales, with her favorite being the custom jewelry trade.  
Kay enjoyed her time spent with her grandchildren, her flower gardens, cooking, decorating, Christmas, entertaining, loved working with her customers to ensure they received the perfect piece of jewelry and enjoyed her occasional Manhattan or Old Fashioned or two.
Kay is survived by her husband, Adrian (Ace), her daughter Debbie (Terry) Kleiman, and her son Randy (Dena) Schmidt; five grandchildren, Derek (Kayla) Schopf, Ashtyn Feld (fiance'e Kevin), Tanner (Lauren) Schmidt, Kahner (Joe) Domke and Devin Schmidt; step grandchildren Spencer (Elisabeth) Kleiman and Marie Kleiman; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Toni (Randy) Massart, Tom Blahnik and Becky (William) Hann; many nieces and nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Lois, sisters Sandra Blahnik and Mary Jo Laurent, brother Joe Blahnik, brothers-in-law Tony Laurent and Richard Zajac.
The public is invited to a memorial gathering, Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 1:00 PM with Pastor Alex Blahnik officiating.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials may be made out to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
