Michele Hanson

Michele Marie Hanson passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on February 26th, 2025, at the age of 66 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born to Floyd Vertz Sr. and Elizabeth (Kasbohm) Uecker on September 12, 1958, in Milwaukee, WI. She met the love of her life Jim Hanson in 1976, and they later married on October 7, 1978, in Sturgeon Bay. Michele most recently worked in the Maintenance Department at the Door County Justice Center for 20 years and retired on March 4th, 2022. She enjoyed going to the beach, riding motorcycles, cleaning her beautiful home, spending time with family, and traveling. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and riding motorcycles up to the Northwoods, and along the Door Peninsula with her husband Jim. She enjoyed visiting her grandchildren in Wausau, WI any chance she had. She loved sitting on her deck on a beautiful sunny day having a cup of coffee and spending time with her sisters. She thought the world of her three sisters; Patty, Louise, and Betty, as they were all connected at the hip spending lots of time together. Michele was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her big radiant smile lit up any room she entered. She always waited on everyone else and always took great care of everyone around her. She lived life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with her family, her beloved grand-dog, Milo, and friends. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Hanson; her children Ryan (Lera) Hanson, Brittany Hanson; grandchildren, Milana, Alex, Michael, Olivia, and Leo Hanson; mother, Elizabeth (Kasbohm) Uecker; sister, Patty (Joe) Weber; sister Louise (Brian) Franda; brother, Floyd Vertz Jr; sister Betty (DJ) Kittell. She was proceeded in death by her father, Floyd Vertz Sr.; and brother, Jeff (Nancy Moyer) Vertz. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2025, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Dennis R. Delsart

Dennis Raymond Delsart, 70, of Egg Harbor, passed away late Monday, February 24, 2025, Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay following a diagnosis of cancer. He was born, January 30, 1955, in Sturgeon Bay, to Raymond and Ellen Alice (Rex) Delsart. Dennis graduated from Sevastopol High School and worked as an electrician up until three years ago at Bay Shipbuilding (Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding). He was passionate about antique farm tractors and equipment where he was a collector. Dennis loved driving tractors, especially Farmall tractors. He attended many steam shows and auctions. Dennis was an active member of the Valmy Thresheree and was often found welcoming people at the gate for their annual event in the Town of Sevastopol. He will be missed by his wife, Nancy; four children, Autumn (Michael) Stevenson of Northwood, OH, Nathan (Amber) Delsart of Sturgeon Bay, Meghan (Michael Schmidt) Delsart of Sturgeon Bay, Alyssa (Tyler Meverden) Delsart of Green Bay; 12 siblings, Dianne (Gregory) Bojko, Carol Grimstad, Sally Kostka, Nancy (special friend, Thomas Tice) Delsart, Roger Delsart, Patti (special friend, Robert Florence) Delsart, Randall Delsart, Jill (Mark) Cote, Sharon Moellendorf, Todd (Deng ZiFeng) Delsart, Joan Delsart, and Tammy (Manjit) Sahota; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; grandchildren; other relatives; and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Jeff, Glen, and twin sisters, Tina and Tracey Delsart; four brothers-in-law, Glen Eugene Grimstad, Jr., Dr. J. G. Moellendorf, and William Kostka; niece, Kandy Kostka; and other relatives. His life will be honored with a funeral service held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Pastor Gary Scharrig officiating. Dennis will be laid to rest Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Juddville. Angela Nicole (Honold) Bies

Angela Nicole Bies, 48, of Burlington, WI, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at her home in Burlington, WI after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born May 1, 1976 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of Mitchell and Dawn (Feld) Honold. Angela graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1994. She received her undergraduate degree from UW River Falls in 1999, before receiving her Master’s in Education from Olivet Nazarene University in Buorbonnais, IL in 2005. Angela taught at the Judith Blazer Child Care Center in Sister Bay (1999-2001), Westosha Head Start in Wilmot (2001 - 2002), and in Burlington Area School District at Waller Elementary, starting in 2002. She was employed with Burlington Area School District as a passionate, dedicated elementary school teacher for 22 years, encouraging and inspiring her many students. On June 18, 2005, she married Scott Bies at St. Rosalia Catholic Church in Sister Bay. Angela and Scott lived in Burlington together, building a beautiful family and many happy memories. These include camping, hunting, raising "the triplets," caring for a "petting zoo" of various animals of fur, fin, and feather, leading Cub Scout Den activities, taking dogs Christmas shopping, completing the Muddy Girl Run with minimal injury, a honeymoon fishing trip, and creating a used car lot in their driveway. Angela enjoyed attending all her sons' various sports games and activities, spending time in Door County with friends and family, gardening, and reading as many books as she could during the summers. She also tolerated Scott's impulsive decisions like feeding Cheetos to seagulls through the moon roof of their Ford Flex or spinning his wedding ring on tables. Angela will be missed by her loving husband, Scott; three sons, Sullivan, Max, and Ian; parents, Mitch and Dawn Honold; father and mother-in-law, Garey and Jeanne Bies; sister, Jennifer (Michael) Neitzke; brother, Brandon (Casey) Honold; in-laws Lisa (Patrick) Fernan, Matthew Bies, Julie (Steve) Blair; nieces, Ali Honold, Nora Honold, Kylie Fernan and Georgia Neitzke; nephews, Toby Honold, Sean Fernan, Mason Voight, Anthony (Andrea) Neitzke; as well as her many students over the years, fellow teachers and beloved friends. We also can't forget her dear cats, BB and Gouda; the family dogs Missy and Ellie, and most recently, Rambo the gecko (Ian). She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ronald and Lorraine Feld; and paternal grandparents, William and Amanda Honold. . Angela's life will be honored with a funeral service held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay with Pastor Sara Feld officiating. She will be laid to rest in Zion Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, West Jacksonport, WI. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to the time of service. James Ernest Webb

James Ernest Webb, 90, of the Town of Sevastopol, WI, was called Home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, February 20, 2025 while in Naples, FL. He was born December 5, 1934 in Chicago, IL, to Samuel Gibson Webb and Rose (Hefferle) Webb. James was raised Catholic and grew up attending All Saints Catholic Church and Grade School in Chicago. He graduated from St. Rita High School in Chicago with the class of 1952. James went on to attend the University of Evansville in Indiana where he studied Marketing and served as House Manager for his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1957. He then served his country with the United States Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. James first met Regina Elsbeth Laabes at a dance in Germany where they could not understand each other's language but found a special joy in dancing together that continued throughout James' life. They were united in marriage in Germany on April 11, 1960. James was honorably discharged from the Army in June, 1960 with the rank of Sergeant. He returned home to the U.S. with Regina and resided in Chicago. James began his career working in marketing for the Sinclair Oil Co. from 1960 to 1972. In 1973, he joined Yogi Bear's Jellystone Resorts as Franchise Sales Director and moved to Sturgeon Bay, WI where he and Regina continued raising their family. James and Regina, along with business partners Charles and Joyce Chouinard, subsequently acquired ownership of the company. They succeeded in growing the business and expanding the number of Jellystone Park locations throughout the U.S. and into Canada as well. They eventually sold the business to Leisure Systems Inc., and James continued working for the new owners until 1992. He then worked as Sales Manager for C&S Manufacturing in Sturgeon Bay from 1993 until his retirement in 2004. James was active in numerous franchise industry associations, including as a board member for the American Land Development Association headquartered in Washington, D.C. He was also a well-known presenter at camping industry events and at the annual Jellystone Resorts symposiums hosted by Leisure Systems. In his honor, Leisure Systems created and annually presents the James Webb Spirit Award to an individual who embodies the same spirit, enthusiasm, and commitment to Jellystone Parks. James was the consummate salesman and loved to watch a good pitch man at work. He always maintained his integrity and put the customers' best interests first, even if it meant talking them out of a deal. James and his family attended St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay where he served on the St. Joseph Educational Endowment Committee for many years. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and Rotary International. James also served on the Bayside Cemetery Board of Directors. He was a longtime member and strong supporter of the Door County YMCA. James loved to travel, especially on many trips to Germany and Austria with Regina. Since 2000, they spent their winters in Marco Island, FL. James was a strong believer in education and a voracious reader of history and non-fiction. Above all, the most important thing to him was his family. James will be missed by his wife, Regina, with whom he was blessed to share nearly 65 years of marriage; daughter, Christine (Keith) Miller of the Town of Sevastopol, WI; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Webb of Toronto, Canada; granddaughters, Katharine (Dan Winkelman) Miller of Pewaukee, WI, Caroline (Trey) Ryan of Rochester, MN, and Anna (fiancé, Tom Anderson) Miller of Minneapolis, MN; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Winkelman; brother, Jerome (Elaine) Webb of Chicago, IL; niece and nephew, Sarah Webb and Peter Webb, other nieces and nephews in Germany; other relatives; and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Webb (1999); siblings-in-law, Horst (Kate) Laabes, Winfried (Annemarie) Laabes, and Waltraud (Bernhard) Kitta; and other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 110 N. 5th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay with Fr. Matthew Rappl as celebrant. James will be laid to rest in Bayside Cemetery in the Town of Sevastopol, next to his son, Thomas. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and V.F.W. Post #3088. LaVerne "Bea" Delain

LaVerne Josephine Delain, 94, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on February 22, 2025, at Aurora Bay Care in Green Bay. She was born on July 28, 1930, in Sturgeon Bay to William and Lucille (Haen) Behringer. On July 28, 1951, she married Robert X. Delain in Montgomery, AL. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2005. LaVerne and Bob owned and operated a number of businesses in Sturgeon Bay. She was a past member of the Corpus Christi Church and the Christian Mothers. Survivors include her four children, Bill Delain, Debra (George) Ledak, Tim (Robin) Delain, and Mike (Carrie) Delain; seven grandchildren, Maggie (finance Josh Zaring) and Sam Delain, Margaret and Bridgett Ledak, Kayla (Jake) Karbula, Maggie Shaffer, and Cole Delain; and one great-grandson, Hunter Delain. She was preceded by her parents, husband, brother William Behringer; four sisters, Bertha Cardy, Patricia Christopherson, Helen Burress, and Leta Guth. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday February 28, 2025, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Anthony Birdsall officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Wilma Waterstreet

Wilma Mae Waterstreet, 93, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Feb. 21, 2025. She born on July 15, 1931, in Stevens Point. On Dec. 26, 1954, she married Eugene W. Waterstreet in Eagle River. Together they raised three children. Eugene preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 2014. For many years, Wilma worked as a Home-Ec. Teacher for Sevastopol Schools. She enjoyed traveling with her husband all over the United States. She loved golf, gardening, playing bridge, and was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. She is survived by 3 children, Keith (Joan) Waterstreet, Eden Prairie, MN, Kathy (Ken) Stephenson, De Pere, WI, and Nancy (Tom) Merritt, Juneau, WI; 6 grandchildren, Julie (Jonathan), Mike (Leandra), Kyle (Lindsey), Kevin (Jessica), Tyler and Jenni; 6 great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law Darlene Waterstreet, Two Rivers, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Beatrice Schmeeckle, her husband, and brother Don Schmeeckle. Private family services will be conducted. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery. Terry L. Henry

Terry Lynn Henry, age 66, of Kewaunee, passed away February 19, 2025. He was born to James L. and Estelle Lou (Maxwell) Pratt on September 20, 1958, in Freer, Texas. His mother later married Spencer Lee Henry, and Terry was adopted. Terry is survived by two sisters, Barbara Ann Kruschke, of Texas, Peggy Sue Smith, of Maryland; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Kotanen, Green Bay; many nieces, nephews, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Pratt, William (Bill) Pratt, his twin brother, Jerry Henry; and a sister, Betty Jo (Pratt) Kotanen, who was his main care giver throughout his life, until her passing in 2011. Terry enjoyed playing the guitar, coloring, and going for fish at Village Mart in Denmark. Per the family’s wishes, no service will be held. Michael Patrick O'Neil McDermott

Michael Patrick O’Neil McDermott, 61, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Feb. 19, 2025, at Door County Medical Center. He was born Dec. 8, 1964, at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL to Dennis and Mary Ann (Kelley) McDermott. Michael graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL and attended Loyola University in Chicago. He worked in the sign making business and in the roofing business. He is survived by his parents, 2 brothers, Dennis (Tina) McDermott of Colorado, and William (Wendy) McDermott of Illinois, a sister, Sarah McDermott of Illinois; nephew and niece, Ryan and Carly McDermott of Colorado, and cousins including 12 McDermotts, 7 Smolas, 2 Kellys, and 5 Omers. Funeral services will be conducted at the Forbes Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, at 7:00 pm. Family and friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be at Bayside Cemetery. James Soukup

Jim Soukup, 85, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on April 17, 1939, in Nasewaupee, WI to Charles and Lillian (Oldenburg) Soukup. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Holy Name of Mary Church in Maplewood with Rev. Anthony Birdsall officiating. A luncheon will follow. Harry "Carl" Kinjerski

Harry “Carl” Kinjerski, age 80, of Kewaunee, went to his eternal rest surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 16, 2025. He was born on February 23, 1944, in Kewaunee to the late Harry W. and Anita (Plohar) Kinjerski. Carl attended Kewaunee High School from 1959 to 1962. He enjoyed participating in all sports, especially baseball and football. Throughout his career Carl worked as a machinist at various factories. Most notably, he worked for his very good friend Norb Zelewski at ANZ Specialty. Carl served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1961 to 1968. He was a member of Robinson Post 538 of the American Legion and was also a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of De Pere. He is survived by six children, Shelly Gjesdahl (Keith Linzmeyer), Brian Kinjerski (Rob Battan), Dori Kinjerski (Vicki Strebel), Todd (Vicky) Kinjerski, Jason (Lora) Kinjerski, and Joshua Kinjerski (Lori Hagenow); thirteen grandchildren, Sonya Gjesdahl, Leah Gjesdahl (Derrick Voruda), Allie Gjesdahl, Tasha Gjesdahl (Derek Anderson), Dustin (Abby) Varick, Reese (Rachel) Varick, Carissa Varick, Cassandra Kinjerski (Jared Ledvina), Rachel Kinjerski (Jason Selner), Brady Kinjerski (Taylor Homeyer), Bella Kinjerski, Alicia Kinjerski (Kayden Schmidt), and Riley Kinjerski; brother, Paul (Vonnie) Kinjerski; two sisters, Joanne Hegnet and Jean (Theodore) Janowski; sisters-in-law, Gail Kinjerski and Rosalie Kinjerski; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward Kinjerski, Robert Kinjerski, and Norbert Kinjerski; sisters-in-law, Edwardine Kinjerski and Shirley Kinjerski; brother-in-law Maynard Hegnet Sr.; Godson Maynard Hegnet Jr.; and niece Louise Hegnet. A public visitation will take place on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the funeral home. A private family service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025. Linda Kay Johnson

Linda Kay Johnson, age 82 of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025. She was born on July 1, 1942, in Rockford, IL to the late Howard and Virginia (Smith) Arfstrom. She is preceded in death by her husband Rodney Johnson, the two are now lovingly reunited. Linda was a loving mother of five children, but she is best known as the most wonderful grandmother her ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild could ask for. A lover of people and nature, Linda will be laid to rest at Bayside Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. A celebration of life will take place on a date to be determined. Jane Ellen Roalkvan-Sincock

Jane Ellen Roalkvan-Sincock, from the Town of Nasewaupee, passed away unexpectedly at her home Tuesday morning, February 11, 2025. She was 69. Born on June 21, 1955, to Robert and Elaine Roalkvan, Jane grew up in Milwaukee, Wis., the second of five children. She graduated from John Marshall Junior Senior High School in June of 1973. Jane bought her first car and first house on her own shortly after graduation, and remained just as independent and resourceful throughout her life. In 1973, Jane also began her lifelong career as a public servant with the U.S. Social Security Administration. She served until December 2010, when she retired as District Manager of the Green Bay, Wis. office. She always believed everything happened for a reason, and one of those everything’s was finding the love of her life. Jane met George in December 1995. They married on May 15, 2010, and were together for more than 30 years. After retirement, Jane and George built their dream house on the waterfront of Sturgeon Bay. There they liked watching Door County sunsets, enjoying the wildlife and welcoming grandchildren to build snow forts in winter and swim in the bay in summer. Throughout her life, Jane was an avid golfer, enjoyed puzzle games and appreciated the company of good friends and family. She loved cows, dogs, watching Judge Judy and knowing nearly every answer on Jeopardy! She had her own way of organizing everything. Fiercely smart and forthright, Jane lived with conviction. She was forever thoughtful, honest and attentive of others. Jane is survived by her husband, George; children, Erica (Greg) Schueller, Matthew (Becki) Schulz, Sarah (Chris) Wolak, Jacob (Alyssa) Sincock, and Benjamin (Paige) Sincock; grandchildren, Everett, Norah, Grace, Grant, and Zeke; siblings, Debra (Al) Labermeier, Roberta Roalkvan, Todd (Teresa) Roalkvan, and Lars (Donna) Roalkvan; and sisters-in-law, Joy Bermudez, and Gay (Dan) Magno. Jane is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Jane is preceded in death by her father, Robert Henry Roalkvan and mother, Elaine Irma Roalkvan. A memorial service for Jane will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Hainesville Lutheran Church – 3944 County M, Sturgeon Bay WI 54235, with Rev. Mary Lou Plummer officiating. Robert A. Karl

Robert (Bob) A. Karl, 89, passed away at home February 17, 2025, after a short illness. He was born March 16, 1935, in Kewaunee to Clarence and Matilda (Plansky) Karl. Bob attended Holy Rosary School and graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1953. He met his wife, Joan Thompson, in high school and they were married on June 30, 1955, at Holy Rosary Church in Kewaunee. In 1957, they bought and remodeled Dikeman schoolhouse and joined St. Hedwig’s Parish where he was a Lector and involved in many other church activities. In 1980, the family moved closer to Kewaunee and joined Holy Rosary Parish. He was employed at Svoboda Church Furniture in Kewaunee for 16 years and Hamilton Mfg., in Two Rivers for 33 years, retiring in 1997. After retirement he continued to operate, with Joan, Karl’s Sports Supply (founded in 1970) selling sporting goods and repairing rods and reels. Bob was an avid Packers and Brewers fan, enjoying many games on TV. He loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. On October 28, 2001, he was fortunate to kill the largest 14-point buck ever taken with a bow and arrow in Forest County. On September 16, 2017, at age 82 and still climbing trees, he shot his first bear. He was an active member of the Algoma-Kewaunee Area Great Lakes Sport Fisherman Club, Treasurer for the Town of West Kewaunee (1969-1999) and Town Supervisor (2009-2019) and a member of Holy Rosary Congregation. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Joan; seven children, Cathy (Harold Olson), Bob (Luanne), Tom (Michelle), Tim (Debbie), John (Mary), Mary (Jim) Bertrand, and Terri Kroll; grandchildren Angie (Chad) Denis, Alison (Brian) Hendrickson, Ryan (Jessie) Vanne, Dalton Karl (friend Katelyn), Laura (Chris) Seehaver, Jacob Karl, Miracle (Ethan) Everson, Chloe Karl (friend Dillon), Mitchell Karl, Justin Bertrand (friend Ashley), Jayme Bertrand (fiancée Paige), Logan Kroll, Anna (Justin) Fawcett; six step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, Clayton Denis, Conner Denis (friend Logan), Grace Hendrickson, Ara Vanne, Daytona and Andrew Seehaver, Jeremiah Karl, Avery Bertrand, Braxten Bertrand; seven step great grandchildren; a longtime friend since high school, Chuck Molle; further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother Arnold; son-in-law Kurt Kroll; father and mother-in-law George and Anna Thompson; in-laws Marie and Henry Bruening, George and Martha Thompson, Joseph and Monica Thompson, Marcel and Evelyn Thompson, Helen and Francis Murphy; and many aunts and uncles. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 pm at Holy Rosary with Fr. Eugene L. Clark

Eugene Lars Clark, 82, Algoma, passed away on February 15, 2025, in Denmark, WI. He was born October 21, 1942, in Parsons, Kansas to Edward and Darlene (Lundsfred) Clark. On May 16, 1964, he married Joan Vertz in Sturgeon Bay, she preceded him in death in 2019. Eugene was employed by Badger Northland & Hatco, Inc. He retired from McDonald’s in 2008. He was an avid bowler, loved to square dance with his wife and enjoyed spending time with his family. Eugene was a Scout Master for many years. Survivors include three children, John (Judy) Clark, WA; David Clark, WI; Connie (Rick) Kainz, TX; grandchildren, Jessica, Greg, Brittany, Jacob, Nathan, Nadine, Krystal and Mathew; great grandchildren, Caleb, Carter, Ella, Aiden, Skyler, Johann, Enrique, Mateo, Eliana, Maeson, Lily, Jessa, Kenneth and Blayne; great great-grandchildren, Royal and Majesty. Darrell M. Jorgensen

Darrell M. Jorgensen, 62, a lifelong resident of Algoma, passed away February 12, 2025, at Kewaunee Health Services. He was born on August 31, 1962, in Algoma to Dale and Elizabeth (Libbie) Jorgensen. Darrell was a self-employed handy man who painted many local buildings in the business district. He was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast, and proud member of the Road Rebels Motorcycle Club. He just received his 15-year membership pin with the Road Rebels. Darrell is survived by his father, Dale; brothers, Dale Jr. (Janet) Jorgensen, Kewaunee, Daniel Jorgensen and David Jorgensen, both of Algoma; sister, Debra (Kenneth) Pallex, Algoma; as well as his best friend, Jacque; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth; his stepmother, Joyce Kirchman; and infant sister, Diane. Dennis Laurent

Dennis Laurent, 78, passed away on February 12, 2025, at Autumn’s Journey Assisted Living in Algoma. He was born on July 13, 1946, to Walter and Lucy (LeGreve) Laurent. Dennis grew up in Rio Creek. As part of a large family, they always kept watch over him, lovingly nicknaming him “Sam”. Dennis lived independently in Casco for over 20 years and was well-known by the locals. He liked going for walks and enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, and football. He was a kind soul with a quiet demeanor. Dennis is survived by two sisters, LaVerne Capelle and Gloria Thomason both of Green Bay, and brother-in-law, Joe Wiese of Algoma. Dennis is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family members. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter Jr. (Rosie) Laurent, Gabe (Diane) Laurent, and Tony (Mary Jo) Laurent; sisters, Lucille Laurent, Carol (Joe) Strnad, and Jeanne Wiese; brother-in-law, Donald Capelle; nieces, Lizabeth Capelle, Linda Strnad, Julie Beckers, and Jennifer Strnad; and nephews Duane Capelle and Todd Laurent. Robert A. McFarlin

Robert Allen "Bobby Mac" McFarlin, 67, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida, surrounded by his family. Born on December 5, 1957, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, he was the youngest of five children born to Rubin and Pauline (Gunnlaugsson) McFarlin. Robert graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1976 and began his career at Peterson Builders, later working at Kewaunee Fabrications until his retirement in 2010. Bobby Mac found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing with family and friends, enjoying Saturday afternoons on the golf course, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. Whether hosting watch parties in his garage or gathering with friends at The Red Room, he created an atmosphere filled with laughter and camaraderie. He had a kind and generous spirit, and his joy and laughter could light up any room. His easygoing and accepting nature made him a friend to all. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit lives on in his children, who inherited his welcoming heart and kindness. He is survived by his children, Kendall Martell (partner Brett Cottrell), Callan (Katrina) McFarlin, and Cheyanne McFarlin (fiancé Lane Samuelson); his grandchildren, Mathew and Jacob Martell, and Delilah and Wyatt Cottrell; his siblings, Jim (Mary) McFarlin, Patti (Charlie) Balestrieri, Larry (Donna) Holmes; and many cherished friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Rubin McFarlin, his mother, Pauline McFarlin, and his brother, Mike McFarlin. A private celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks, with inurnment at the Bayside Cemetery Columbarium. Lois A. Boudnik

Lois A. Boudnik, 82, Algoma, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, February 9, 2025, after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Algoma, Wisconsin on August 22, 1942, to Rudolph and Eleanor (Lardinois) Rackow. Lois attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Algoma High School. She married Roger Boudnik with whom she had her first three children with. Lois worked at and retired from Plumbers Woodwork Company in Algoma. Lois was an avid cook and baker and always enjoyed trying new recipes for her family to enjoy. Outside of the kitchen, she enjoyed gardening, playing with her beloved dogs Charlie and Sophie, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers. Her other joys included winning at bingo, penny slots at the casino, and spending time with her grandchildren. Lois is survived by her children, Kelly (John) LeCompte, New Jersey, Lisa Boudnik, Sturgeon Bay, Lance (Amy Dahlin) Boudnik, Green Bay, and Tina (Dennis Mertens) Pagenkopf, Algoma; seven grandchildren, Dustin (Hilary) Brunette, John LeCompte, Brooke LeCompte-Gindi, Morgan (Max Claassen) Pagenkopf, Aaron Godfrey, and Sophia Boudnik; great grandchildren, Lilly and Quinn Brunette, Elliot LeCompte-Gindi, and Ainsley Keller; sisters-in-law Paula (Jack) Zirbel, and Marla (Greg) Mosholder. William "Bill" N. Peterson

William "Bill" Nels Peterson, age 57, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at his home. He was born to the late George and Bessie (Wilson) Peterson on May 28, 1967, in Egg Harbor and was the youngest of eleven children. Bill graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1985. Bill lived life to the fullest and was always the life of the party. He was known for his humor and making everyone around him laugh. He was also known for being the best shoulder to cry on. Bill was kind and caring. One of the most selfless men you could meet. He would give you the shirt off his back and then some and would go without if it meant you had what you needed. Bill spent the better part of a decade taking care of his sister Elaine with Down Syndrome and his mother with Alzheimer's in his home, all while he battled an immuno-compromised illness for 32 years. But his family was everything to him. Bill is survived by his brothers, Stanley (Darlene) Peterson and Allan Peterson; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews, all of which he cherished and loved like his own children; also including his extended family James McPhee, who was his best friend and soul mate of 30 years. He is further survived by extended family and friends. He was preceded by his parents, George and Bessie; brothers, Don, Stanton, and Clarence; sisters, Ethel, Pauline, Elaine, Mary, and Marion; sister-in-law, Sandy; and brothers-in-law, John and Paul. Kevin P. Romdenne

Kevin Philip Romdenne, (The Casco Kid) 67, of Little Sturgeon passed away unexpectedly on February 4th, 2025. Kevin was born July 3rd, 1957, to Philip & Virgil (Bouche) Romdenne in Kewaunee County. Kevin Grew up in Casco, WI where he attended Holy Trinity school & Luxemburg Casco High School, graduating in 1975. In his youth he developed a love for fishing and hunting with his brother in between the many chores that developed his strong work ethic. Kevin’s first jobs included, the Hanmann Feed Mill, Phone company in Casco and Bay Ship Builders. Kevin started his own construction business in 1976 where he continued to build lasting relationships, strong structures and long-standing friendships. Kevin met his wife Lynnette at a church (picnic) in 2002. They married in 2021in the “Love Shack” at Autumn Fields so Kevin’s Mom Virgil could attend. The life they built together included playing cards, going to NASCAR races, motorcycle rides and enjoying the cabin “Up North” in Sayner hand feeding deer (Cookie & Sugar) and teaching his sisters how to do the broom dance around the campfire. Kevin mastered cooking side-pork, fishing, hunting, hosting fish fries, Harley rides, and was blessed to have many great friends, a close family, and enjoyed UTV riding, Casino trips, snowmobiling, & playing sheephead. He belonged to the Southern Door Snow Travelers (SDST) for 40+ years and was voted as president numerous times. Jack M. Benzinger

Jack Benzinger, 79, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on February 8, 2025, at Pinecrest Village. He was born on March 10, 1945, in Merrill, WI to Albert and Marjory (Deates) Benzinger. On February 4, 1977, he married Susan Luedeman in Marinette, she preceded him in death on September 18, 2018. Jack loved everything about the outdoors including hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and 4 wheeling. He was often found spending time at his cabin which he was proud to have built. He also loved going to kids sporting events, especially soccer, and spending time throwing the ball with his dog Mollie. Jack had an extensive hat collection. He looked forward to neighborhood parties and having conversations with his friends and was known to never be far from a candy dish. Jack and Susan enjoyed taking cruises with their close friends in the Caribbean. Survivors include his five children, Marge (Todd) Engelmeyer, Oshkosh; Mike (Mae) Whitman, Egg Harbor; Linette (Richard) Radtke, Manitowoc; Chad Benzinger, Burnsville, Minnesota; Ryan (Melissa) Benzinger, Sturgeon Bay; and 8 grandchildren Carly (Tim) McNeil; Adison, Aiden, Ashton, Belle, Allyssa, Lauren, and Jessica as well as numerous great-grandchildren; siblings Gary Benzinger, Merrill; Carol (Jerry) Bird, Wausau; Sandy (Perry) Ackeret, Steven’s Point; Colleen (Larry) Lasecki, Green Bay; Scott (Julie) Benzinger, Wausau; as well as his sister-in-law, Beth (Tim) Christensen, Gillett, WI. Fred James DeMeuse

Fred James DeMeuse, 55, of Sevastopol, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at his home. He was born December 30, 1969, in Sturgeon Bay, WI, the son of Darrell and Rachel (Kostichka) DeMeuse. Fred graduated from Sevastopol High School class of 1988 and attended UW-Platteville, UW Oshkosh and college in Larame, Wyoming. Fred worked for Orbital Technologies Corporation (ORBITEC) in Madison, where he designed parts for the International Space Station. He was also a HVAC technician for Wulf Brothers, and delivery technician for Wiegand Oil, and driver for Dave DeMeuse Trucking. He enjoyed learning about anything, collecting and fixing old cars, car shows, motorcycles, hunting with his father and friends. Fred will be missed by his mother, Rachel DeMeuse; son, Audie DeMeuse; siblings, Craig (Tracey) DeMeuse, Cheryl (Pete) Walsh, Karl DeMeuse, Darrick (partner, Kevin Marquez) DeMeuse; and cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell DeMeuse and nephew, Christopher Walsh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute, with Fr. Matthew Rappl and Fr. Matthew Simonar, concelebrating. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery immediately following mass. Gerald Wagner

Gerald Wagner, 94, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Feb. 6, 2025. He was born September 19, 1930, to Edward and Louise (Schmelzer) Wagner in Maplewood. Gerald attended Maplewood School, and graduated from Algoma High School in 1947 at the age of 16. After working for his father for a few years, he took over the family business, Wagner’s Market in Maplewood. Gerald was called to serve his country in the US Army, serving in the combat zones during the Korean War. After the war, he returned to his business in Maplewood and married Carol Ann Brozek on July 23, 1955 in Casco. Later in life, he was honored to join fellow veterans on an Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Gerald sold the market in 1967 and embarked on a significant job change. Giving up cutting meat, he became a successful stockbroker and life/health insurance agent. He eventually concentrated on his financial planning career, working well into his 70’s before retiring from Associated Bank. Aside from seminars and short courses, he was able to accomplish this with no formal education beyond his high school diploma. One such seminar was held at Purdue University, which gave him the ability to “casually” mention that he was an alumnus there. Outside of work, he was well known in Door County for baseball. He played in various leagues in the area, predominantly for Maplewood in the Door County League. He started at the age of 15, playing for his father Ed. He was part of the inaugural class to be inducted into the Door County Baseball Hall of Fame, followed a few years later by his father. After the armistice was signed in Korea, he did play with his unit’s baseball team. That led to a minor league contract offer from the Cleveland Indians, but he chose to come back to his business in Maplewood instead. He was a past member of the Door County Board, former chairman of the Town of Forestville, and was the first president of the Forestville/Maplewood Lions Club upon its charter. He was a member of St Peter’s Lutheran Church of Forestville. His other life interests and hobbies included traveling with Carol, hunting, fishing, playing the role of “Top Chef” for all family gatherings, cheering on the Packers and Badgers, going on adventures with Tony Schlise, and golf. He continued deer hunting with his boys into his 80’s and was always in charge of processing the deer after successful hunts. Friends of his will confirm his status as a world-class storyteller. Later in life, he took great pride in being Grandpa-Great to his three “Bumpsers”, providing an array of treats each time they visited. Survivors include Carol, his wife of 69 years, two sons, Tom (Tammy) Wagner and Jerry (Tracy) Wagner, two grandchildren, Chris Wagner and Carrie (Cody) DeClark, three great-grandchildren, Joslyn, Johana and Liam DeClark, sister-in-law Sally Wagner, nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law William and Agnes (Opicka) Brozek, sister Jean (Eldor) Eggert, brother William Wagner, infant brother Charles Wagner and brother-in-law Bill (Betty) Brozek. A private family service will be conducted with military honors at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Burial will be in the Forestville Town Cemetery. Wallace Pelnar

Wallace J. Pelnar, 92, husband, father, and friend, left this world on February 3, 2025. Born on December 24, 1932, to the late Jim and Alice (Olson) Pelnar. After graduating from high school, Wallace proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. In 1967, he began life as a dairy farmer in Algoma. In 1956, Wallace married the love of his life, Carol Dhuey. Together, they built a life rich with cherished memories, raising a family that was the heart and soul of his existence. He was a devoted family man who found delight in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He enjoyed working on a puzzle, capturing the world through his camera lens, painting beautiful pictures, or making canes, and continued to serve his community as a member of the American Legion for 12 years. Wallace is survived by his children, Jeff (Heidi) Pelnar – Thompsonville, MI, Becky (Mike) Jeanquart – Algoma, Greg (Gretchen) Pelnar – Chicago, IL, Susan (Bruce) Tomei – Gurnee, IL; grandchildren, Jessica (Scott) Ingersoll, Jenny (Erik) Brown, Jacob Pelnar, Jeremy (Cassandra) Pelnar, Karen Stoller, Amy (Jake) Lardinois, Danny Pelnar, Ellie Tomei, Joseph Tomei, Kim (Levi) Zahn, Kirk Jeanquart, Daniar Pelnar, and Dustin Finkhouse; great-grandchildren, Abagale, Hunter, Lydiya, Evan, Damien, Connor, Paisley, Ryan, Sam, Cash, Ellie, and Abigale; and great-great-grandchildren, Liam and Atlas, brothers, Mitchell (Sandy) Pelnar – Tish Mills, Jack (Janet) Pelnar – Colorado, Ronnie (Barb) Pelnar – Kewaunee, William (Cary) Pelnar – Two Rivers; as well as by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Pelnar; son, Ricky Pelnar; grandson, Kevin Jeanquart; parents, Jim and Alice Pelnar; brother, James Pelnar; and sister, Shirley Brusky. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services - Casco. Closing Prayer service will be at 7:00 pm. Dexter "Dex" S. Smith

Dexter “Dex” Smith, 76, of Bailey’s Harbor, WI passed away peacefully after a battle with lung cancer on January 31, 2025 at his home. Born on January 2, 1949 in Bloomington, IL he was the son of Don and Eugenia Smith. Dex proudly served as radio operator in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was honored with several medals, including a Bronze Star. Dex was a retired business owner of a successful paint company, Don Smith Paint Co., which was originally started by his father, Don. The father and son owned the company for a combined 64 years. Dex was deeply respected by his employees, serving as both a supportive boss and a trusted friend, and he forged lifelong friendships with many customers. He was also a known expert in the art of paint matching. He found joy in casting a line at his favorite fishing locations throughout Door County, reading on his kindle, bringing music to life at the piano, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with family and loyal companion, Bentley. He could often be found relaxing in his lawn chair in the front driveway, engaging in friendly conversations with passing neighbors. Well known and loved by many, his sense of humor brought joy to those around him with his lighthearted jokes. Dex is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Lauri Smith; children, Justin (Missy) Smith, Ashly Smith, Stacey (Corey) Sharp, and Ryan (Jayla) Willis; grandchildren, Cameron (Taylor) Smith, Gabrielle Sharp, Landon Smith, Cassius Sharp, and Aspen Smith; great-grandchildren, Tatum Altes and Lydia Smith; siblings, Sharon Abbott, Timothy Smith, Jeff Smith, and Cha Smith. He is preceded in death by his father and mother. Dex’s kindness, generosity, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Dex chose cremation as part of his wishes, and his family is planning a celebration of life for late spring/early summer. Arletta M. Bertrand

Arletta M. Bertrand,80, Luxemburg, was born on August 24, 1944, in Lincoln, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025, in Luxemburg, Wisconsin. On May 14, 1966, Arletta married Gerald P. Bertrand, at St. Peter Church, Lincoln, and together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. The couple ran the family farm for 35 years before retiring in 2000. In Arletta’s earlier years, following graduation, she worked at Plumbers and AC Nielsen Co. After retirement she worked for the APAC Customer Services Company. Arletta was deeply committed to her community and her faith. She served as treasurer for St. Mary School Board for 18 years and was head cook for funerals at St. Mary for four years. She also led St. Mary Christian Mothers as president for seven years. Her dedication extended to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 262 in Luxemburg, where she also served as treasurer. In 2011, Arletta joined the Kewaunee County Historical Society, where she became a valuable member of the board of directors and served as treasurer until her passing. She also contributed as assistant editor of the society’s newsletter, *Reflections in Time*. Her tireless efforts were recognized with the Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award in 2013 and the Kewaunee County Historical Society Volunteer of the Year award in 2017. Arletta is survived by her beloved husband Gerald; her children Jerry (Pam) Bertrand, Jackie (Duane) Srnka, Jodie (Mike) Glish, and Jenny (Chris Conley) McCaffrey; her grandchildren Jerry and Josh Bertrand, Dustin (Maggie) Wilson, Melissa (Ben) Joniaux, Sarah (Jared) Lemens, Kimberly (Kory) Stepanek, Danae (Max) Bruss, Dakota (Rebecca Kroll) Srnka, Riley and Reece (Kassi Kissinger) Glish, Maya and Mason McCaffrey; great-grandchildren Lucy and Ronnie Joniaux; one sister Karen (Ken) LuMaye; sisters in law and brothers in law Lenore Deprey, Richard (Karen) Bertrand, Carole (Gary) Margotto, Pat VandenHouten, Sandra Bertrand, and Marion Jauquet; nieces and nephews. Arletta was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Dolores (Stache) Deprey; one sister Vernalda Deprey; one brother Ronald Deprey; brothers in law and sisters in law Hubert Jauquet, Ray VandenHouten, Donna and Marvin Kinnard, Bob Bertrand; her father in law and mother in law Robert and Angeline Bertrand.
